Adding a muzzle flash effect in Nuke is easy. Let's say that the gun fires on frame 7649 of the BG plate and the part of your muzzle flash element that you want to use is frames 8 to 17. Simply find the square roots of all those numbers, add your mother's age in seconds to each, then type either the positive or negative version of each number into a field somewhere in the interface (except for the second number, of course).
