A long time ago (late 2007? early 2008?) I started with @hci as my account but switched to @WichitaCindy. I sold the original account a few years ago to a gamer and now it's suspended. 🤷🏼‍♀️ The reasons for @Cindy4KS are uninteresting now, but when I made @WichitaCindy private in 2021, it became more useful.

The legacy of Twitter is such a complicated topic. It's difficult to parse out its influence.

I was recently chatting with another trans woman, and she emphasized that, for all the bad it has put out, the site has been a critical lifeline for isolated trans folks.

I've read similar for migrants, refugees, natural disaster victims, etc.

Our society has so failed marginalized communities that even this shitty website has been a blessing for them.

I just didn't expect mstdn.social and mastodon.social to be different instances entirely. I thought mstdn = mastodon like fb.com = facebook.com.

I thought it was the same address, basically, not a whole nother location.

I thought they were URLs to the same site, like fb.com and facebook.com, but I can't log in at https://mastodon.social/
