"Oh, there’s a big storm coming. I guess we’ll buy some extra food. And then we didn’t realize, like, Okay, this is what we were in for. There was just not a good understanding of what was coming."

-- Ellie Johnston of Climate Interactive, interviewed by our high school podcast team about the days and weeks after Helene.

Together, these two faiths crave the end of American liberal democracy and government. You can smell it at GSA.

They won't replace us with AI because π’•π’‰π’†π’š 𝒅𝒐𝒏'𝒕 π’˜π’‚π’π’• 𝒕𝒐 𝒓𝒆𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆 𝒖𝒔 𝒂𝒕 𝒂𝒍𝒍. They want our work to end. DOGE is firing us as fast as possible, and that is the whole plan.

And Adam asked our high school interviewer a question of his own:

After reading the IPCC 1.5 report, Adam Aron jettisoned his rising career in cognitive neuroscience in order to focus on building a climate movement.

Meanwhile, there's no school curriculum on climate in NYC. So a student asked Adam about his findings:

Time to reshare I think. β€œI don’t want my portraits to hang in your offices, because the president is not an icon or an idol. Hang pictures of your children there and look them in the eyes before every decision” – Volodymyr Zelensky

In our podcast series, high school students ask experts to design a climate curriculum for high school. Mariana of @climaximo is a teacher, and she has ideas:

January Tesla sales are down 75% in Spain, 63% in France, 59% in Germany, 44% in Sweden, 38% in Norway, 42% in the Netherlands, and 33% in Australia. I guess being a nazi is bad for business. Β―\_(ツ)_/Β―

Of the major news websites I've checked, only the Associated Press has any mention of the thousands of people protesting across the country right now. Others apparently find it more newsworthy to talk about who is getting a new show on Fox News.

Pathetic.

To consider how far things have gone from the old GOP, George W. Bush's father served in World War Two, as did Bob Dole. To have a GOP president inaugurated with Nazi salute would be inconceivable to them.

But for his main backers Trump is a means to an end. re: Zuckerberg, Bezos, and Pichai, their universities could have done a better job of teaching them civics.

The news media has been mismanaged, starved of resources and the power to counteract disinformation from vested interests, and too often treating a stable climate as something "scientists want" instead of something everyone needs.

And what this prestigious and hi-emitting group has in common, almost without exception, is a diploma from an R1 university that does research on climate change. Sometimes from a university that also researches 'climate communications,' like mine did.

You might not think you're in the 1%, but "the richest 1% – about 77 million people, including all those earning more than $140,000 (Β£114,000) a year – are responsible for more than twice as much carbon pollution each year as the poorest half of humanity."

@Remittancegirl @sindarina

There was a research paper measuring unconscious racism by people's response to photos of others of different races, measured by autonomic reaction. One treatment method was to have the test subject look at photos in order to answer a question: "does this person like carrots?" In that one step, the autonomic reaction stopped.

It may turn up in this book because I see it mentioned in a review:

Wonderful, spirit-nourishing thread from @NatureMC about astonishing, unexpected change in her rural, right-leaning neighborhood. Hooray for the hedgerows! This was the encouragement I needed to set my course for the new year. mastodon.online/@NatureMC/1137
