@silverspookgames That's a cool artstyle
I'm a power engineering with an interest in programming, game development and pretty much anything technical.
@silverspookgames That's a cool artstyle
@TheDevBlog Looks pretty good! I'm making a power engineering game myself so made a few things like this, however with mine I had aerial connections at the top so had to add that into the visuals. If you aren't visually connecting things, should be easier.
I always welcome feedback. If you have any suggestions or things you want to see in Power Network Tycoon or other projects I develop feel free to let me know. The best place is on my discord server - I'm currently seeking feedback on a number of areas like game UI, camera movement and the tutorial. Thanks for the support so far!

I've written a few thoughts on how i've been bringing "life" to Power Network Tycoon. I've found it's the quiet details that speak the loudest. What are your thoughts? How do you make a game feel "lived in"?

I've made a quick video showing a timelapse of the new night sky in Power Network Tycoon. I think adding elements like stars makes the game more immersive.
I've been making some tweaks to Power Network Tycoon as well as fixing some bugs. I've included stars that appear at night for more realistic atmosphere, had some support with Polish localisation, and made some changes to the UI. @readyandnot thanks, it's certainly given me a great appreciation for some of the other games (or software!) out there.
@readyandnot Oh that's really cool! I think power engineering is about my only skill so I'm trying to make something cool with it. I hope your friend enjoys it.
@arhippaseal Might be your sort of game then haha. I never did a full computer science degree but I think it would have helped with this sort of project.
@bobkmertz No worries at all. I'm releasing an update in the next day or two to fix a few things including this (hopefully...) and add some features.
@bobkmertz I'll put something different into my next update, but its odd it looks like it didn't detect the screen is 16:10 (which works on my macbook) and shrinks it to fit the width. Thanks.
@bobkmertz That's interesting you use 100%. I have it detect if someone is using lower resolution or Steamdeck and then pump it to 150%, thinking they would need bigger UI. It also detects if someone has a keyboard/mouse and a gamepad and will give them an option, so for Steamdeck they can dock it. The right touchpad was going to zoom but it's a work-in-progress as I play with Steam Input API. Let me know if you have any suggestions for Steamdeck use.
@Nabla I hope you enjoy it! I'll have to have a look at steam engine simulator. I like seeing these deep-dive simulators and passion projects, where you can learn as you play.
@DeltaWye I feel like when you buy something like this, there is a good chance it will last your whole career.
@semiotic_pirate @joybooster Just above ground at the moment. I'm 50/50 about adding underground cables for a lot of reasons (UI complexity, visibility of asset issues, makes some things like space constraints too easy). But it's a features I may add...
@susankayequinn @oinak Oh that is interesting. I love the term solarpunk and I'm embarrassed to say I hadn't heard of it before, but I see there is a bit online for it. You can play the demo free at the below link (early access essentially means a near final draft). The game probably has a slightly lean toward environmentalism but focused on realism (eg there are challenges). Happy to discuss further!
@butternut I've just fixed the problem on my end, so checking my build before deploying the update.
@m0vfc Update: It's got to do with playing the interactive tutorial first (it sets up the game in a particular way) and then playing the normal game mode afterward. Restarting the game after playing interactive tutorial fixes it, but I'll release a patch today. Thanks for raising it.
@EloPup Yeah I think there are definitely things to learn from playing it. Yes it's Unity.
