I just saw the blog article from @kb6nu regarding the #ARRL VP report.

I've been saying it for years, the ARRL needs to go.

It's more concerned with protecting and enriching itself and maintaining its party line and manufactured image than protecting, enriching, and maintaining amateur radio.

The ARRL is 109 years old folks, it's got a lot of bad habits and rot it's picked up over the years that it doesn't want to get rid of. It's time to start fresh.

@ACBNational @JeffBishop I listen to some of the braille revival speakers today and really enjoyed them. I didn't get to much of it because it was mostly during my workday but still sending a thank you out to the universe for it.

Jan 4 was the birthday of Louis Braille, who invented the braille code. Since it's still Jan 4 in my time zone, I'm appreciating how valuable braille has been in my life. I use braille for work, taking notes, checking how things are spelled, labeling items, playing games with friends, and most importantly… for reading aloud to my kids. I'm enjoying the morning speakers at #NFBAz23. But by far the most entertaining part was when a participant asked the nondisabled panelist representing our local NLS library when the library would be getting a presence on Mastidon. Poor woman didn't even know what hit her! She struggled even to understand the words in the question. ☺️ She was a good sport about it though

I'm reading the best vampire book right now! Night's Edge by Liz Kerin. It has kept me up late reading for 2 nights in a row. It has everything... a complex mother daughter relationship, lesbian romance, suspense, a dystopean Arizona setting, a bookstore, and a girl in a band. What else do you need? Check it out. Not twilight-like at all I promise !

Any other #ARRLfd #HamRadio field day widows out here this weekend? I have heard nothing much out of hubs other than Morse code beefs or "CQ field day" for going on 24 hours now. :-) I actually don't mind. I may have finished an entire book yesterday. ❤️ And he tries to get our kids involved in broadcasting to the extent that they're interested which is… Only a little at these ages. They like the radio fine they just don't have the patience to wait between contacts.

@greengaybles I love the upside down magic series of books. Their middle grade and just so sweet but in a way that doesn't come off saccharine. I read them at first with my kids but read ahead myself because I was having so much fun.

@KaraLG84 This is blind accessible and reads EPUB on windows. I have not tested for alttext because unless I missing content I tend to ignore image descriptions. But maybe worth a try. There's a lot of student advertising on here because it was funded by the Department of Ed but it works for individual nonstudents I've tried it. https://www.cast.org/resources/products/clusive

Friday night fines me analyzing what I dislike most about a particular Disney song. I am not anti-Disney. My kids can quote Frozen with the best of them. But they have this one song on repeat tonight that may as well be the anthem for the next generation of offenders. It's a little-known song by Mickey and Minnie.
