Driven By EVs

Just an old guy that loves tech, EVs, & FSD. Exploring if autonomous cars are safe via data, humor, snark & civility.

I will follow anybody that follows me, until 1K. Then who knows. Trolls and Scams ignored.

In "Just in Time Merging," FSD navigates a Phoenix I-10 detour, smartly identifying backed-up traffic and merging at the right moment—even crossing a yellow line. A great example of how FSD is improving real-world driving decisions in complex situations. #TeslaFSD

In "FSD Might Make You Late," I show how Tesla’s FSD got confused at a tricky I-10 interchange. Whether it was the sun, traffic, or bad map data, it took the wrong exit, adding 20 minutes to my trip. A reminder to stay alert—FSD isn’t perfect! #TeslaFSD

I’m always alert using FSD, so when it moved over for no reason, I almost took over—until I saw why. A motorcyclist was speeding up on my right, squeezing between cars. In AZ, lane filtering is legal, but lane splitting isn’t. Glad one of us was watching!

The title is a little misleading but overall a well balance report. It’s also eye opening when you see independent comparison analysis of all the major systems.

Tesla has a lot of catching up to do if the are going to have a real Robotaxi business. #TeslaFSD

FSD does this a lot, and I’m not sure if it’s Hurry mode, bad map data, or something else. Exiting I-10 onto SR-51, it moves into the right lane—then suddenly switches to the wrong one for Route 202. With less than 1/4 mile left, I took over. Frustrating! #TeslaFSD

I drove using the turn signal to influence Tesla’s FSD without disengaging FSD. With no set route, it should’ve stayed on the highway, but when I signaled left at the exit, it smoothly took it. If consistent, this could be a simple way to adjust routes! #TeslaFSD

Here is a quick video showing FSD is navigating toward an unexpected road closure. I used my left turn signal to see if it would make a left. Coincidence, I am not sure but it seemed to work. I’ll have to try this again to confirm. #TeslaFSD

Tesla’s latest FSD update feels smoother and smarter in traffic. On McDowell Road, it anticipates my turn into Safeway and moves over early—something older versions struggled with. Lane selection and traffic management seem improved. Watch it in action! #TeslaFSD

Senators Propose Not Just Killing EV Tax Credit, But Slapping A $1,000 Road Tax On New EVs

Tesla’s FSD makes a debatable call here—but a low-risk one. Approaching a yellow light with ~5 seconds to stop, it doesn’t hesitate & crosses just as it turns red. Technically, we clear the line, but it’s close. No cars were coming, so I let it go, as I would’ve done the same.

Tesla’s FSD isn’t full self driving yet but it’s getting better. Here is an example. Since I set to “Hurry” mode, it doesn’t ride in the right lane very much but when it does and sees an opening, it will quickly maneuver around slower cars. Just like it’s human.

He can solve every problem there is just by giving his companies monopolistic control. From Internet access (Starlink) to rockets to space (SpaceX) to running the government (DOGE) and now to EV charging infrastructure (Supercharger).

This is not how it works.

Here is the original article where you'll see a million postings.

1) This is an extrapolation (estimation, beyond observation range) not a fact.

2) They include the Vegas incident, self-inflicted and purposely a fire. Removing that drops their PREDICTION by 20%.

While making a left onto Camelback Road, FSD gets confused and tries to enter the oncoming left turn lane, so I had to intervene. No cars were waiting, but if there were, I doubt it would’ve done this. FSD 13.2.2.1 isn’t ready—stay vigilant. It’s good, but it’s NOT full self-driving.

FSD v13.2.2.1

Tesla’s FSD isn’t perfect, but it’s improving. Here, the right lane was blocked just before my turn at the light. Expecting to intervene, I watched as it waited, then smoothly moved to the center lane to pass. When the light turned green, it flawlessly made the right turn after the incident.

Well, legacy media isn't anyway. They have a need to continually downplay EV sales in the U.S.
