Okay, it's finally time to admit it...
I'm on the job search.
I'm really struggling with self-worth. I've made it pretty far in some interviews, but haven't landed a job. I've been cut for internal candidates or other things.
It's been really rough. I have a dog to provide for... and I need healthcare.
I've done so much in cybersecurity. Anti-fraud SOC, teaching, sales, consulting, and more.
I've applied to over 200+ jobs and feel like I'm getting nowhere. That's why I've been so down lately.
Wish me luck on my upcoming opportunities...
Imagine being so drunk on the Kool-Aide that you can't listen to someone trying to help your company. Reached out to an executive at a manufacturing company about a security issue, and their reply was: "I'd like to help you. However, in checking out your website it is clear you suffer from Trump Derangement Syndrome. I don't like the guy but he is our President and a refreshing change from a mentally incapacitated do nothing President." Oh well, I tried.

Researchers at Harvard Business School and University of Toronto used unique data to quantify the value of open source.
Takeways:
* Supply-side (cost to recreate) is ~$4.15B, but demand-side (value to firms) is $8.8T. Shows massive cost savings & productivity boost from OSS.
* If OSS didn't exist, firms would need to spend an estimated 3.5 times more on software than they currently do. OSS provides a massive, often invisible, productivity boost.
* A tiny fraction of OSS developers create the vast majority of value. Only 5% of developers are responsible for over 96% of the demand-side value
* Firms should not just "free ride" on OSS but actively contribute to the ecosystem, as this is far cheaper than recreating the software themselves.

With the help of Elder Eileen Beaver, Connected North – a program that brings interactive virtual field trips to northern students – has seen explosive growth.
From the "Godspeed You! Black Emperor" school of sign making, I assume.

Find a job you enjoy doing, and you will get promoted and go to meetings about other people doing the thing you like for the rest of your life.
Saw a video where a guy said Canada should cut off power to the US but, like, on and off at random times so they have to keep resetting the clocks on their stove and microwave and that’s the Canadian passive aggressive culture on full display. #canada
I mean, he said it.
