Em Kyla | Self Destructors

She/They ~ 30s-ish

Hello. I release music under the name Self Destructors. I play multiple instruments, and use them to make the aforementioned music.
Other things that I enjoy doing include: coding, game development, and visual art.

Sorry if I missed an approach

@mk_rexx oh that's an easy one, red to red and red to red. hope this helps.

@wednesday I actually wasn't aware there were color coding systems for other types besides guitar and bass. I'm more mostly annoyed by the aesthetic effects but these always seem to be the only short scale brand I find in stores around here.

Gold for "good string for low notes"
Red for "rad notes can be played on this string"
Black for "B string? no, that's a couple more up"
Green for "Gee whiz those are some high notes"

me, person who works for D'Addario: "damn it's so hard to keep track of which string is thicker than the other. oh, I know, let's make a completely nonsensical color coding system."

@Weru that definitely would be the more logical option. I do have some good clean sounds available.

@EDVARDS not many people know that knob and switch type and their physical position while unplugged has a subtle effect on the final sound, only noticeable to advanced musicians.

@Weru that is interesting. I've started playing more unplugged out of similar intent to improve as a player. I have always made music that uses a lot of saturation and as I started valuing technique more I realized a lot of my playing that sounded smooth was just covered up by distortion. so I've been doing intentional unplugged practice to focus on improving my technique. part of that attempt to improve also was discovering the possibilities of actually using the controls on my guitar.

do any other electric guitar players here, while playing unplugged, find themselves switching pickups out of muscle memory and then wondering why they would do that?

i recently discovered (stretch to use the word discovered, because i saw a youtube video in my suggested feed yesterday) about pianobook. it's been fantastic so far and i'm amazed and inspired by the passion of all these people helping people make music with high quality sounds for free.

its got me thinking about ways I can contribute with some of the weird instruments i have around. i've only done entry level sample work before just for my own projects and i look forward to the challenge.

Thanks to my high level of musical intelligence, I've managed to create a simple 4 track drum template using only 12 tracks!

it appears virtual insanity is the new meme song. my first exposure was this youtube.com/watch?v=SWethxo6az

I had this keyboard as a kid and I thought it was just a song yamaha made up to demonstrate their keyboards.

Song That I Think Is Pretty Neat #11

mouse on the keys - spectres de mouse

I'm too fucking stupid to tell you why this slaps but it does. Do you like chaotic jazzy-ass piano and drums? Then this is a song you should hear.

It has so many good notes, in very many nicely arranged patterns. When i hear them, i think: "wow, this is what a good song sounds like, i sure love to hear these sounds and notes!". Perhaps you will too.

I finally did something and got all of my various music production software set up on the new pc and it's bringing the spark back post being a videogame gremlin/getting the flu.

on my previous pc, amplitube would take a full minute to load and it would be at least 10 seconds before loading a new model. it's now near instant.

I also enjoyed the benefit of organizing my plugins and workflow properly from the point of install, which I've never done before.

Basically, it's musicing time!
