All the talks from the UCL Neuropixels course 2024 are now available on YouTube!

We had an amazing speaker line-up covering the usage, cutting-edge tools, and science related to Neuropixels probes. Special thanks to the @internationalbrainlab for their contributions this year.

Now in Matlab and Python, compatible with SpikeInterface and Phy (if you want to check for split neurons!): github.com/EnnyvanBeest/UnitMa

Our latest addition is a tracking module that uses simple rules to determine whether a neuron is present in each recording. While some neurons appear and disappear, other neurons were tracked across months!

UnitMatch uses only the neurons’ spike waveform to track them across many days. This works really well with high-density probes such as , where the spikes are visible across many recording sites.

Our paper “Tracking neurons across days with high-density probes” is now out in @naturemethods! rdcu.be/dVhCN
UnitMatch is a software for chronic electrophysiology that will automatically track neurons for months!

Thanks to co-first Célian Bimbard, and co-authors @basal_gang, Sam Dodgson, Flóra Takács, Pip coen, @neurvanna, Kenneth Harris, and @MatteoCarandini. And to @MSCActions, @embo, Wellcome trust, and BBSRC for funding this work.

Happy to see my PhD work published in iScience:
"The direct and indirect pathways of the basal ganglia antagonistically influence cortical activity and perceptual decisions". Read it here:

Thanks to all who collaborated on this challenging project! Specifically my PhD advisors Pieter Roelfsema, Ingo Willuhn, and Matthew Self. This work was funded by Horizon EU 2020 and NWO.
