@stammy in my imaginary universe where every kitchen counter has a sparkling water tap, WebOS was bought by Sony or Nokia.

If you care about CSS, please take some time to answer it, and help shape the future of the language

@winduptoy It's kind of wild to think that there’s two departments in Apple who are at constant odds to make phones obsolete and keep them current and useful for as long as possible

My take is that they’re trying to make a UI that would be next to impossible for Samsung, Xiaomi, or any other competitor to rip off.

a friend of mine at Meta NLP just got scorched

@FeralRobots No, I really think they would be unable to pull it off. Liquid glass isn't just a weird skin. Get a load of this example: indieweb.social/@simsaens@mast

The only people with the kind of discipline to pull off shader effects like this are videogame developers, and I don’t see Samsung hiring a bunch of Unreal devs and saying “okay now do this in our Android skin”

I’m cautiously optimistic, but #liquidglass is starting to remind me of how WindowsXP could load the old Windows 95 theme, and I stuck with that for four long years until I flipped to Apple.

My very serious theory is: this was motivated by a desire to create a UI that Samsung and Xiaomi couldn’t possibly rip off.

@Cykelero they're giving our Macs safety scissors

@playdate getting the impression that Blippo was definitely designed with the Playdate speakercube in mind

Introducing @YouAreCarrying, a bot that posts random room descriptions from all the old Infocom games.

As a bonus, reply to the bot with an i or inventory to find out what you're carrying. It'll be a collection of items from Infocom classics.

@chockenberry duude my Series 6 was good for like 14 hours of battery by the time I replaced it last autumn… yeah I’m afraid I don’t blame Apple for being aggressive with discontinuing old models on this platform at all

@tcannonfodder @rstevens just bring back Appearance Manager and everyone will be happy

i got your text readability right here

@marcoarment um… happy pride month?

@jensimmons heh. I knew you were going somewhere with that svg icon inquiry a couple weeks ago

Scroll-driven animations look very exciting! Thank you and your team for the amazing work

@gruber I guess they more or less have to pre-record keynotes now because you never know when California might be on fire

was half-expecting XCode for iPadOS as a one-last-thing. I’m betting on it for next year.
