What Fediverse softwares would you like Fedicate to talk about?

THIS IS A PURE OPT-IN BY THE USERS THAT ARE TALKED ABOUT! (ALSO BETA)

Currently this is only tested with my (@sam) account, but to be able to talk about what a user may have accomplished in the fediverse.

This is not a archive of every user and is not automated.

Each user who is talked about can withdraw consent at any time and we will remove them at any time.

By this, What do yo u think of the look when a user is talked about because of everything they've done in the Fediverse?

You don't need another account on a main instance but yes sometimes you have to find something on a different instance but this is why you follow people and things that might boost or talk about things, The Fediverse is a garden and you are the gardener. There are weeds and sometimes you need to get a new plant from somewhere else but in the end you've made something beautiful.

But yeah discovering things needs to improve.

@BeAware@social.beaware.live There are plenty of ways to discover / view content on your own instance, well I will say it's helpful find a random like on Lemmy, Mastodon or another instance and with that 'origin link' you can often past it in the search of your fediverse software to add it to your instance it is a little annoying to do but Fedicate would have never been able to solve that with my limited coding knowledge sadly.

Would be happy to know what you wish was apart of fedi and see if I can add it

@BeAware@social.beaware.live If I do bring it back I just need to make sure the users themselves have opted into it, what is something that I need to work on due to data protection.

Fedicate originally was super rushed as took into account that I would have my eye on it 24/7 what is unlikely but also it was manually done what could take up a lot of time.

Even with the educational setting of Fedicate I still want users to be reconciled for the wonderful things they've done on the Fediverse.

@BeAware@social.beaware.live Sadly a lot of people had a problem with it, happy to recreate it with changes just need to have those changes clearly laid out.

@peterbutler Thank you, this is a great thing to hear. We will be looking into making sure if we keep with our current model of Endorsements that they are safe for all but for the moment I will be taking a short break from Fedicate through this weekend due to personal struggles

@PaulaToThePeople We check each one of the things, if we see it as not nice then we don't allow it to be posted, but due to all the harassment that I've personally been getting I am looking to disband and just do nothing helpful for the fediverse as it's obviously not worth trying due to personally threads.

I might refactor the whole lot of Fedicate. Obviously my thought process behind it was not in the best space, my main thing about doing it was to learn if I can work with a 'database' even if it was just a .JSON file.

My idea behind making a Fediverse database for bad actors was from the best place I could do it to log and allow users to help block these bad actors, I didn't think of what it could be used for, what was very clearly pointed out to me.

I've since changed it to a more positive system allowing people to thank a user but as I look at it more and more it just seems stupid... I feel stupid.

I know one of the big things I did want to do for the website was maybe make it a space for information about the Fediverse and maybe I still will but with all this hate from users including hating on Trans Pride (what I did help build but am the only one that is involved, if anything I'm barely involved at this stage) It is clear to me that I should not try to do anything even positive when it comes to expanding the Fediverse.

I'm happy to keep running my bikersgo.social and app.southampton.social instances for those who need it but for the moment fedicate is just going to have to go idle unless people would like to work along side me to refactor or even change the ideas of what it could be.

I'm sorry for the issues that I have caused, but there is no need to go after someone personally or make them feel like a terrible person, I build the project as I wanted to do something with my life and now I feel more than ever that my life is worthless.

I feel more than ever that the Fediverse is becoming a shitter place and all I was trying to do was spread helpful information, learn to build websites better and help people.

@jackemled Probably gather volunteers and have a rule of conduct for what is allowed / not allowed when it comes to Endorsements.

Such as someone saying they love something illegal for an instance, is obviously not allowed.

@Willpogor Are you asking about issues with a negative or questionable endorsement, they are manually reviewed and checked by / from the actual submitted user.

In the future we will hopefully integrate users being able to make logins and admins / mods to go through a pending list of endorsements but that all takes time

@jackemled This something that we are adding over time, I'm new to writing documents for sites like this, especially ones that people actually look at.

Later on I hope to move over to an actual database and make it easier with my own admin account with guidelines for mods to help sift through endorsements and other things on the site in the future.

@jens Currently andorsements are open to anyone, as well as usernames@domains are stored, I have to go out of my way to add users pfp but obviously I can contact the user if they want there profile stored, we do not store the actual picture on our system and if they where deleted off your account they will no longer function on our website.

Love hearing feedback and knowledge of how to better the system, as the system is currently pretty manual we can't sync data from an instance to users

@0xF21D@infosec.exchange I'm looking into MySQL and other databases to improve how the site works in the future as I know it would be a lot better for reports and things.

As of the moment I think I will continue as it is and hopefully I can reset my mind to work on this a bit more.

@0xF21D@infosec.exchange At the moment we haven't even touched APIs as it's said on our website it's only a little JSON file with manually entered data but yes Logins and ability users to delete there positive feedback (as we've switched to possessive things) could be a good idea including users being able to do little customization stuff in the future.

You are completely find, just a lot of negative reactions including minor threats that effected my motivation.
