Thought for the day:
When I invented the New Management in the Laundry Files I was NOT trying to write predictive mode dystopian SF, dammit!

I'm a blind ADHD activistic queer New Zealand expat. I'm also an Indigenous Australian (when imposter syndrome isn’t raring its ugly head.)
I have many different interests, some of which include music and various audio related things, books and hanging out with people.
I also love a good game when the mood strikes.

The campest, gothest thing ever. I give you the skull mirrorball.
From #DadSaysJokes I haven't seen my twin brother since I left Australia.
We were separated at Perth.
@stevo399 Apparently you can now have you're an assistance animal handler listed on your uber profile in Australia. I'm on holiday in New Zealand right now so can't test it, but I agree listing you have a service animal on your profiles is way to go. At the very least you'll know a driver is canceling before they drive up to your house and drive away again. I've always felt a little bit uncomfortable with the driver is entirely responsible for cleaning up the dog hair you've left in their car arguement.
client: we can't restore from our backup, can you help?
the 'backup': three years of logs stating that the backup failed (ssh error 'Permission denied (publickey))', no other data

@Bruce_Toews The times in which I was particularly awful about this stuff was when I was in a context where I was seeing people/systems in authority be horible to others pretty much on a daily basis. I was suffering from severe sleep deprivation as well. I'lln never forget the slap in the face feeling when someone pulled me up on my shit. And then you let it sit in your brain for a second and it's like o...
@Bruce_Toews This! I think what also makes it so hard is that organisations and teaching best practice is so in fear of health and safety regulations that they just end up condescending all of us, which is disempowering and then we have to try and fight if our learning needs differ from their baselines. And that's on either side of the scale. I'll comment more on this when I'm not about to go to sleep.
Yikes. Ren made quite the Dis track against a guy called Kujo. It's very angry.
New episode of Sensory Spirit is out. I discuss the new Whatsapp community and provide a tactile exercise for energetic protection, as well as energy replenishment from Earth and Sky for anyone who has trouble visualising or cannot safely go outside as much as they would like.

Whenever you talk to another person, think about the fact that you, as well as them, as well as anyone else you talk to that day is here because their ancestors survived wars, famines, more wars, life-changing events, perhaps a country move or twelve and just marvel that humans survive anything at all.
Each and every person likely has something in their passed that could have killed them if they were just one second too late to move one way, or went somewhere one minute earlier than some other thing.
The dance of life and energy it takes to be here right now at this very moment is something special.
Just my Saturday morning observation.
@FreakyFwoof Wooow! That looks like that would be super useful if I do zoom classes again!
OK hear me out.
I teach on zoom, and today I tried their #AI recap feature.
It isn't stupid, it isn't useless, it is ridiculously useful. Genuinely.
I am actually blown away right now.
I know people either have an AI hard-on or hard-off if you hate it, but there are times in your life when something honestly impresses, and for me, this is it.
Do you think Jeff Bezos sleeps naked, or with pajamazon?
GOODNIGHT
I fucking resent the suggestion that I'm licking billionaire boot because I am sometimes forced to choose accessibility over principals. Please, tell me more about how I have no good reason not to switch to Linux. I just love hearing about how disabled people are invisible to you.
Great to see this issue gaining some media attention. Vision Australia pressed to appoint a blind CEO and open field externally https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/article/2024/aug/31/vision-australia-pressed-to-appoint-a-blind-ceo-and-open-field-externally?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other
