I tried a new(er) app and it stopped sending notifications! So I paid for a different app… I hope this one lets me know when people want to connect!

@JEmphatically my mom had her own credi card as a single woman in 1970 because she worked for the department store and the store issued them to all employees (Single non-employee women couldn’t get one of course! That would be silly!).
When she married they issued a card to my dad without her permission, and changed the name on her card to “Mrs. [His-first-name] [His-last-nane]”. She was completely erased.

2023-06-15

@JEmphatically specifically a girl with short hair. Because that doesn’t fit the gender construct of “femininity”. Like, pixie cuts haven’t been popular for a hundred years* or anything 🤬🤬🤬

*literally, since the 1920’s!

2023-06-15

@JEmphatically he has been banned, and the RCMP are investigating it as a hate crime. I hope something comes of it. But he’s already claiming he “didn’t yell”. Apparently he’s been convicted of harassment on another occasion but seems not to have learned his lesson.

@ned I guess what I meant was that if any of the others were ministers they would have behaved just as badly, and that would have been known. They are complicit in the issues the party has and aren’t any better than the ministers who were in the spotlight, they just didn’t have the opportunity to show it as clearly.

2023-06-01

@Chris_MS spendthrifts, every one of them.

2023-06-01

@ned I saw an opinion that they got voted out *because* they were recognisable. That if the less publicly vocal ones were as well known they would have been too… and I wonder if that isn’t true

2023-06-01

@Chris_MS she basically implied that when she announced it.

"I'm going to put together an Edmonton council of some of the candidates who I know are going to want to run again, there are a couple of fantastic candidates, many, in fact, in Edmonton," Smith said.”
Repeatedly referring to them as Candidates implies she’s just funding them until they can get back into office (imo).

@Chris_MS best response:

Official NDP press release reads:
For immediate release
May 31, 2023
Alberta NDP Leader issued the following statement:
“For the record, the Alberta NDP has a 20 member “Council of the Elected” ready and happy to advise on the priorities of Albertans living here in Edmonton”

@Grootinside @bbcworld agreed. One of my clients was an 86yo with an 18yo daughter when I met him. His (younger) wife had already passed. And within a few years, while at university, his daughter had to help him move into a home and then deal with his own passing. I felt so bad for her it was so unfair.

@emyrauld Ahh, I see. Well, if you have to use one, at least Maple is Indigenous owned (and is not Telus).

2023-05-31

@emyrauld I didn’t know they were sending people to Maple (better than other online options but still not as good as going to your own family doctor…if you have I’ve). Interesting.

2023-05-31

@mayonesa @Dzus @Chris_MS apparently lies and hate get the job done like nothing else.

2023-05-31

@JustAnotherJay they know. I had one tell me that I shouldn’t be offended because it was “just a metaphor”. Crickets when I asked a metaphor for what…

2023-05-31

@Dzus @Chris_MS of course it has. They’ve been emboldened by electing people who hate the same people they hate. Why would they be anything but louder? Terrible.

2023-05-31

@roger I think it will take the NDP to make a transition but certainly in the next two!

2023-05-31

@Chris_MS absolutely batty.

2023-05-31

@Chris_MS I saw this and my jaw dropped. Instead of discussing Edmonton (metro) with the people who actually represent it, she plans on talking to the defeated candidates? What the fuck??

@Paulatics long but we’ll moving line in St. Albert today at about 5. All the workers looked exhausted and the ones I talked to said it had been even busier all day and this was “slow”!

2023-05-03

@black_intellect @hannu_ikonen since they weren’t even paid, is “employed” the right word?

I’m thinking another word starting with “e” might be more accurate…
