I think they see themselves in israelis. They're both europeans who invaded other countries and carried out massacres and genocide. Palestinians are a 93% match for ancient Israelites. Israelis are predominantly European. It's inverted from what they say. Palestine has been the name of the land since Old Kingdom period of Egypt, where it was Peleset. Romans conquered it and used the name as Palestina. Since 40 BCE. It ain't new. They have an Arabized culture, but that started in the 5th century, even before Qur'an was revealed, when the majority of the population was Christian...

Also, there's literally no such thing as "islamism". The media just calls any Muslim they don't like who is in politics an "islamist". It's a scary nonsense word used to manipulate ignorant people. UAE literally coined the term to refer to the anti-slavery pro-democracy political movement that wants to end the feudal monarchy. US government and UK government apply it to any practicing muslim who runs for office in any country. They somehow apply it to both Khomeni and Sadam Hussein, who have radically different political views. S.H. was a Baathist, the Pan-Arab Socialist movement. Khomeini is into Theocratic Republic. (Some of his fatawa are actually pretty progressive tbh). Turkey calls the Kurds islamist, even if they aren't muslims. It's literally just what the opposition gets called no mattter who they are or what they believe.
