@bortzmeyer @catsalad I have to use all three OSes every day for work.
I love and hate them all in equal measure. Got no time for religious affiliation.
@uk These people are an economic and moral drag on the country. Unlike most of us they hoard wealth, avoid paying taxes and make use of bizarre financial instruments. In a very real sense we are better off without them.
To recap the current situation: Obama cut a deal with Iran to limit their uranium enrichment. It worked.
Trump withdrew us from that deal. Iran restarted its nuclear weapons program leading to the point they got close enough to an A bomb that the Israelis attacked. Also, Trump is not up to the task of handling this and it probably wouldn’t be happening if his incompetent ass and administration weren’t in the White House.
If you're in the press and not connecting these simple dots, quit.
@Shifty176 Cherry jam; lovely.
Mrs. C. is making gooseberry jam this evening.
@kwf Long runs of tight-buffered single-mode?!
Have these people never heard of loose-tube cable?
@kenshirriff Similar arrangement to the slip-rings in the rotating head-drums of broadcast VTRs - although the signals from the heads left the drum via rotating transformers control signals and power (esp. the high voltage variable signals used to deflect the dynamic tracking heads) entered via slip-rings.
@SteveClough @TonyStark it does fit with Elmo’s libertarian MO.
@philpem Yes; those little half-rack parts have bitten me in the backside before. Used for telco applications it seems.
@digichelle Kinda fits with his whole libertarian view of things?
Today proscetors have confrimed 21 charges against 'Andrew and Tristan Tate, including rape, actual bodily harm and human trafficking.'
'Is it time for parliament to question Nigel Farage over his relationship with Tate?'

I don't usually share Substack links, but this piece by former NYT columnist Paul Krugman, Distinguished Professor of Economics and winner of the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economics, is important. Krugman makes a convincing case that the President is planning the biggest heist in history.
Fitting for an admirer of Al Capone, no? America elected an actual gangster, 34-times convicted felon and criminal extortionist to run their country, and 40+% of Americans still approve.

@jwildeboer (Brit here) I was recently offered a week’s work in NY and turned it down “…call me back in four years” and their reply was “Yes, we’re getting that a lot”
There is enough evidence of my distain for the orange man-baby online to make it risky.
@dirtyoldtown Even if you don’t care about your fellow man it’s an uncomfortable truth for Libertarians that the US spends more than twice per capita on healthcare than all European countries for worse health outcomes.
@artandtechnic @neko68k That’s a great album…
@artandtechnic @neko68k "Cry 'Havoc!' and let slip the…”?!
@artandtechnic Not quite as hardcore, but since flattening my 15” 2015 MacBook Pro and putting Sequoia on it using OCLP it’s been running better than it ever did with Mohave or Big Sur.
I love that form factor - it’s the third one I’ve had since they were new and was not looking forward to getting an M4 Air (BlackMagic continually rev their config software and so I need current MacOS).
Apple claiming they discontinue support for old models for performance reasons is baloney. I’ll live happily without Apple Intelligence.
@artandtechnic Lots of VTRs if you didn’t want a mess of composite overlays. I count five play-ins with the hard-coloured luma-key’ed camera (looks great!)
In those days can you imagine the hourly rate in a suite with six 2” quad machines (and a three ME GVG1600?)
