The web feels so broken. Subscription and login gates at every corner. Using Google on a phone now means being periodically quizzed on which of the buttons to press to *not* be redirected to the app store. Opening an Instagram link casually throws up a browser alert dialog because it tries to automatically open an unsupported URL scheme, presumably their own app, and apparently everyone is fine with it. I'm proud that Mastodon never locks public content behind login walls.

Another #Unity focused Simplygon blog post is out.

This one addresses the quite common issues developers face when using assets from lots of different sources, outsourcers, asset packs and so on. It a common thing that the assets have a wide range of poly count, some over tessellated.

This blog shows how to script a system that allows you to tackle that and ensure consistent quality.

I'm tinkering with ways to visualize how much information is stored in each mip of a mip chain. Mainly to help artists better understand how textures are composed of different frequencies, but it can also be used to identify unnecessarily large textures.
