New computational work: It's OK to stereotype people (well, a bit!), as long as we *then learn efficiently*. And 5HT may help the latter! https://t.co/sfQQHN7z7x Here is a pictorial summary:

Our review on Felt Presence is now available online @thelancet Psychiatry ๐๐ with Cherise Rosen, Tatiana Baxter, Sohee Park, Peter Brugger & @Aldersonday
This is still a very under-researched phenomenon, despite it being reported across multiple diagnoses -
We dig into the phenomenology, philosophy, measurement, context, and theoretical and experimental basis of this fascinating experience ๐ฅ

Next up: data viz competition! ๐จ
Going back to paper exams seems like a bad solution to me. Why donโt we treat this tech as we do a calculator, and let students focus on the quality of their arguments? Shunning it will just handicap the clever use of a potentially v supportive resource

New preprint from me Jonas Haslbeck, Cherise Rosen, and Martin Harrow:
"Modelling the Longitudinal Dynamics of Paranoia in Psychosis: A Temporal Network Analysis Over 20 Years"
Preprint ๐: https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2023.01.06.23284268v2
Data & code ๐: https://github.com/josephmbarnby/ParanoiaLongitudinalNetworkAnalysis
To work a more complete formal theory of paranoia we develop a model of the temporal course of paranoia's relationship with other delusional themes in psychosis, and paranoia's relation to social context over two decades:

Our paper is now out in @TrendsCognSci ๐๐
'Formalising social representation to explain psychiatric symptoms'
https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1364661322003217
from me, Peter Dayan, and @vaughanbell
We review current formal models of social cognition, grouped by the depth of mentalisation they address ๐ฅ
We outline how this scientific framework can be used as a foundation to build better theories of social alterations in psychiatric disorders ๐จ๐ฉ
It was a great pleasure to write this with Vaughan and Peter. Massive thanks to @mmoutou and Quentin Huys their comments and insight on an earlier version.

@Aldersonday https://twitodon.com/ I found these sort of tools pretty useful - you can convert all your contacts who were on twitter into who you follow here.
@Aldersonday itโs like twitter but with less chaos. Although I did enjoy a bit of the chaos.
