At the start of every class, I ask students who their favorite stand-up comic is.
Every student who picks Hasan Minhaj says some variation of "I bet you didn't know he went to Davis!"
I need a nice way to say, "yeah, I mean, I teach stand-up comedy, and I've taught here since before you were born, so I did actually know that."
Weird Al won an Emmy! Even though it's not our birthdays, people, we need to celebrate. Let's eat a lot of broccoli and drink a lot of beer!

A year ago, when I was leaving Dublin, I promised myself I would learn to make cannelloni, which was my favorite dish at my favorite restaurant there.
Today, I finally did it.
Since I don't have access to Irish beef, I used bison.
Sadly, no one is getting a cat from me for Christmas. And no one is getting a wrapped present: they won't let me.
Well, I got caught with a flat. How bout that?

Thought the worst thing on a day I give a talk on Atwood would be the severe pain in my cervical spine. Turns out getting a flat on the way home from the chiropractor & having to abandon the car to give the talk is worse.
