A thing I believe firmly (though I know I cannot justify it) is that the hotel in David Hilbert's "Hilbert's Hotel" thought experiment, and the hotel in Jean-Paul Sartre's "No Exit", are the same hotel
I am a huge humanist and feminist, and have devoted a lot of my life to expanding and advocating for diversity in technology and yet if I ever receive another email with the term “she-curity” in it again it will be way too soon, and I may shrivel into a corncob.
Just a reminder to always turn down the Cruise recruiters. This is not the first time they’ve spontaneously laid off great security staff and then followed up with aggressive and cheery pitches to young talent.
Oh wow the site that wouldn’t remove transphobia shit won’t remove Nazi shit it’s like those things are connected somehow wow.
ReCAPTCHA has judged you and found you unworthy. For the heinous crime of missing three pixels of a traffic light, your punishment is to click 59 fire hydrants with agonisingly slow load times.
Tuesday cat.
*Nobody* should ever have to actively chase multiple pharmacies (and their shitbag wholesalers by proxies), medical practices, and more just to get a routine refill.
And yet they do.
I've dealt with it personally, people I care about have, and no doubt millions of Americans have. Patients should *not* have to expend significant effort because of the greed (limitless) and incompetence (stunning) of the various cogs of the system.
I don't get like 100-500 favorites here (most of the time) but I also don't get the worst hot takes and advertisements I've ever seen
because there's american elections tomorrow (in some places; CHECK especially if you live in a state where they don't send out sample ballots/mail ballots/etc automatically) I am going to throw it out here that abstaining from elections is not practicing anti-fascism, giving fascists a shorter walk to power is the opposite of what we want, the system may be broken but it has not collapsed, resisting fascism on all fronts INCLUDES in elections. these are ideologues trying to invade office at every level and that desire for power must be denied at every level, and through all means available. and right now that includes voting
Please do vote if you're in the US. Literally every school board/director up for us had a book burning type running, some more subtle than others.
I know it's boring off year stuff but holy shit those types can do damage en masse.
Pretending here the answer isn't "you had a 3x engineer and made then work like they were a 20x engineer and this burnt them out in like two years and now they're doing woodworking in a log cabin on the top of a mountain in Montana and if you mention computers to them, they'll shoot you in the face"
tech people need to find more ways to get money than from a bunch of coked up fascists who think they're going to live forever on mars. could you imagine how much cool shit we could be working on
silicon valley VCs' best ideas of the 2020s:

This cat is properly filed and enjoying the sunlight.
I used to like knowing things but increasingly things are bad to know
@pettter Is it so bad to make an engine that runs well? Rather than an engine that spins so fast it breaks.
Investors are a problem.
