@Buster oh thank you! I'll have to keep that in mind. One reason i've not entirely decided to come back to the UK (among others) is that the pub/bar culture is so big. Finding a support group before I even move would be a big help.

I've found that my mental health has been a lot better off of twitter/any of the now many twitter replacements and Im including Mastadon in that. they're a bit too much of a distraction for me and I find i start using my account to vent which ends up being more unhealthy than anything else. But, I wanted to put the word out about this so here I am : 3

Likely won't be coming back here permanently but I wanted to log back on to share some major personal news-

I just received a letter of acceptance to University of Birkbeck, London. There's a high chance i'll be returning to the UK later this year.

A lot's changed since I last was in England. Im in rehab now, am about four months sober and going strong, and am on better antidepressants. If I do come, I think things will be kind of different with this in mind.

For example- I think it's worth pointing out the individual in question was open about loving VK79 gear on his platform. perhaps it'd be worthwhile to discuss the ethics of that sort of fetish gear (which is explicitly based on N*zi uniforms and which advertises itself based on accuracy iirc). Perhaps instead of just focusing on the actions of one person we can talk about how plenty of people don't even recognize this is iffy territory to enter anyways.

@Buster @blufclub @brunacho @tombone well, no, you can't socially engineer your way out of issues like this but you can do more to spread awareness, and individuals can do more to openly talk about these sorts of issues. and it is also worthwhile for those around them to try and listen. there are broader discussions around certain imagery in kink that can be touched on in relation to this.

@tombone I hate to be the guy who's like "I had a bad feeling about him" but I really did. Guy has an obsession with VK79 gear and that always just seemed like a red-flag.

Last year, it was announced that he and Odenkirk had reunited to create Guru Nation, a comedy about two rival cult leaders who end up joining forces. After a bidding war, won by the streamer Paramount+, scripts were written and a director recruited (Jason Woliner, whose credits include Borat Subsequent Moviefilm).
