@peter The WaPo editorial board is just as bad. Fearmongering that this will take NYC back to the terrible 1970s...
Well, took 45 minutes to get through the queue (and per Reddit some people got through a lot faster), but order placed.
I guess that's better than the website immediately crashing? Though eventual crashes are still on the horizon.
And it beats Costco sending me periodic e-mails (from the browser cookie) pointing out I left something behind and didn't order...since it's out of stock online (and has been since launch).
Not that M *needs* the Switch 2, but it'd be nice to get as a birthday gift. Of course 2 seconds after the super secret paid Walmart+ ordering window opened up, the queue is 34 minutes long.
@peter I think MÃ¥neskin's last tour was on the same scale of magnitude when they came here (filling decently-sized arenas ~10k-15k). But yeah - it's definitely not as common as back when we were younger.
Heck - looking at some place like Madison Square Garden and their lineup for the summer...and it's a whole lotta old...
@kcivey The one made in America phone from Liberty retails for $2k. And even there it uses parts/supplies from China and India. It also has woefully antiquated specifications compared to the mid-range phone that this is rebranding.
@APBBlue Trying to make up for packages marked delivered that haven't arrived yet?
@ebooksyearn @20002ist Lewis would never smoke! (Though it's a shame his old website with online/browser games now just redirects to the hotel site...)
@ebooksyearn I definitely have some obsessive tendencies (ya think?) that I'm glad my job has allowed me to afford indulging.
@ebooksyearn It's around 11k MLB Tigers cards plus 10(?) binders of minor league team sets that I haven't properly catalogued yet but should exceed 3k...
@ebooksyearn Very nice! My collection takes up a touch more space...harder to display as well. (On the "to do" list - after I properly label all of the binders)
@ebooksyearn Yeah - Trammell was a bit easier (well, cheaper) to more obsessively collect pre-HoF. Completing the Topps sets without breaking the bank entirely was a good longer-term goal once I got within range 4 or 5 years ago, but at this point, I'm happy just trying to maintain.
(Granted, had I just splurged 4 or 5 years ago to wrap things up I would've spent less overall than where the market ended up, but what's the fun in that?)
@ebooksyearn We'll see if I ever try to do much pre-war - right now I'm pretty happy with my complete (main set) Topps Tigers collection from 1951 to now.
(Editor's note on the correction: silly me - I completed 1951 before I went crazy and got the 3 expensive 1952 Tigers cards last year)
@nikkid I've had a lot of strange hiccups today (at home and earlier at the office, plus out on my cell phone).
@ebooksyearn Why does Walter Johnson have two different cards (images)?!? Very rude.
@ebooksyearn Yeah...my Trammell signature sticker collection is getting out of hand as it is. Thank goodness the /25 is listed for $300 now to dissuade me.
@ebooksyearn They tried in that set! This is the back of every card on the set I mentioned.
@ebooksyearn The fronts are great! The backs are lazy.
Sheesh - not sure if it's the acquisition by Fanatics or what, but Topps seems extra lazy with their recent releases. For example, the new Topps Dynamic Duals set is a neat idea, but every card back (from the base to the limited dual autograph variants) have the same insipid generic text.
Don't get me wrong - it's been bad since they (largely) wiped out any competition, but it seems to be worse than bad now.
