i'm gonna be a music elitist for a second and say that we should ban people from putting out covers of songs that are so anemic that they strip the charm of the original. yes every whisper sickly colorless toothless cover of a big, bold pop or rock song by a whispering white hipster singing in cursive with their acoustic guitar - banned! hence with!!!

I just watched a video about Russell Brand. It analysed how brand re:Branded from a leftist pundit to a far right conspiratorial nut job.

The reason?

His videos used to have around 100k views or less. When he started posting anti-vaccine stuff, he got millions of views. He fully pivoted to the far right and now gets millions of views from fans willing to pay him.

The reality is, far right content attracts a loyal engaged audience, and is profitable.

Because of how racist & misogynistic America is, I have to calibrate my thresholds of diagnosis regarding developmental disorders like ADHD (that were missed in childhood) on a fucking sliding scale:

Most likely to be caught in childhood: Het White Male whose parents make >> the average household income.

Least likely caught: Female Person of Color whose caregiver income << twice the poverty line.
