For me, Mastodon is more about what’s interesting to individuals as opposed to what’s trending or popular. I find it much more interesting and enjoyable that way. I rarely open the Federated feed at all. Is this true for others as well?

A start-up packaging company combines fungi with organic waste to grow and create compostable packaging.

Organic waste and mycelium is grown for 7 days in a mold and the final product is able to be used in place of traditional materials such as polystyrene.

After use, the packaging can be composted in the garden.

@ZurichCrowCollective One of my Crow buddies flew over me and tapped my head today! It was the first time one came so close to me.

In its sleep, an octopus will change its skin colour and texture in what appears to be dreaming.

Humans and octopuses are separated by 750 million years of evolution. Our last common ancestor was an ocean flatworm. We may as well be from different planets.

So either even creatures as simple as worms can dream and we inherited that from them, or dreaming is an emergent property of intelligence, appearing independently. And both possibilities are fascinating.
