Maxime Lenormand

“Maxime Lenormand doesn't have a clue what he's doing with his life, at the moment he plays around with pixels and satellite imagery hoping to make something useful out of it.
When he's not doing that he asks people long winded questions about the meaning of life, what books they like and how the heck they ended up also playing with maps all day”

Video editors in Resolve: Any good resources on how to organise projects in a simple but effective way?

I'm working on 30min project more, lots of footage, music, etc.
And I'm not the most organised, looking for inspiration of people who have effective bin / timeline structure

This is wild: 100,000+ people have watch my 45min video about the story of a map, in a video game, in just 4 days!

I’m so grateful to everyone who’s watched this

There’s some interesting multi-platforms meta going on

I hardly post here these days but most people seem to find me on Bluesky recently
I’ll take it

I admit, a few months after upgrading to a more recent iPad with the 2nd gen Apple Pencil:

A solid 80% of the time I have the pen in my hand is to fidget spin it around

Ever wondered how to map Mars?

Well, if you're say, NASA JPL and want to land a rover or two there, you're gonna need a pretty damn good map

Today's conversation is a deep dive into how one maps Mars, with @mapperwocky

@allknowingroger Oh this is cool thanks for sharing!

I just published a 30min BTS on Patreon on how I made the radar satellite image video

From how I got real satellite imagery, research & writing, to how I made that LEGO stop motion

If you like my work, Patreon is the best place to support it, and you get stuff like this!

2024-03-09

@djh Thanks! And yes I'm also routing for S1 C!

Radar satellites can see at night and through clouds

They also can detect millimetre changes in some cases, from space (!)

But I've found them really counter-intuitive, so I spent the last 6 months working on a video explaining how they work

I don't quite know what to think about OpenAI's new text to video model.
So I wrote about it

Jason also has a way nicer setup than I do, so it was a lot of fun to film the podcast.
I think this might be the best looking episode so far

I'm so thankful of all the people who've not only given me their time, but also let me into their homes to speak to me & record

2 nerds talking about maps

I often talk to engineers & technical people, so I was excited to spend time with Jason Boone. He has a background in film production, makes amazing map animations, teaches 1,000s to make their own and worked with some of the most popular Youtubers like Johnny Harris

This was an interesting listen! Having people like you support the podcast I run means a lot Ed

@ai6yr That's one Mac to do the editing

I also have an iPad that I carry around and prefer having on the desk in laying flat on the table we record on if I need to check some notes, but the laptop isn't on the table

Then 1 mic per person yes, and 3 camera setup, so it looks something like this
