Awww man. Brian Wilson.

People throw the term “genius” around with respect to great musicians. Brian truly was a musical genius who made an undeniably massive change to popular music.

May his music live forever.

RIP Sly Stone

@caravan I honestly never used my MBP that much, other than when I was on the road or something prevented me from working on my Mini. I can see myself using the Air a lot more as an alternative to my phone when on the couch.

Day 2 and absolutely loving this machine. I've been using it basically nonstop since I got it. Feels great on my lap while watching TV and catching up on work messages. Again, the keyboard on this thing is sooooo comfortable.

Oh you've gotta be fucking kidding me wapo.st/3Hv9S37

Even pushing it hard, this thing is dead silent and not hot at all. My MBP sounded like a jet taking off when I loaded a web page with a lot of JS and was too hot to use on my actual lap without a heat buffer.

But the best thing might be the keyboard, which is the best Apple keyboard I've used in a long time. They finally got it right!

First up is the laptop: Retiring my 2019 16" MacBook Pro in favor of a 13" M4 MacBook Air.

The MBP is a BEAST, and I realized I just don't need that kind of power on the go anymore.

The Air is incredibly snappy, revealing that some actions were running slower than I realized on the Intel machines. It tore through splitting a track into stems and then bouncing them back together in Logic. Compiling code in Xcode was like blinking.

I'm running a local LLM on it and it's not choking at all.

@null That was my biggest complaint about this MBP. The battery drains in 1-2 hours of regular "work" use, and also drains while it's supposed to be sleeping. Looking forward to having something I can reliably throw in a bag and get out when I need it for a few mins.

My daily driver / audio production workhorse / media server is a Mac Mini Late 2018, the last Intel model. Laptop is a MacBook Pro 2019, also the last Intel model.

Looks like macOS 26 is leaving the Intel machines behind, so I got curious. Blah blah blah, it made sense to upgrade both right now.

Looking forward to seeing how the Apple Silicon chips perform against two machines that have been incredible performers IMO.

@chillwig.bsky.social Congrats! Already dreading that day and she's only 10.

Had one of those "maybe it's time for an upgrade" moments with one of my computers yesterday and wound up buying upgrades for both of them 🤷‍♂️

@justinbruce Nice. Great date night!

@justinbruce How did your wife like it?

@lizardllama Eh. Everyone says that, but weed is legal here and the speed limit is 70 on most highways so you’ve gotta be going pretty fast to get pulled over.

@bsletten They are not getting back together. It’s an updated music video or something like that.

Audio nerd alert. A few pieces on the Wall of Sound. Looking forward to reading this book when it's out in a few weeks!

OMG he did it. John Mulaney actually fought three 14-year-old boys live on TV 🤣

Don’t do this, and don’t use a google voice number (which totally works) or other disposable mobile-style number or your email-for-spammers email address at this link:

And don’t encourage others to do it too.

Definitely don't RSVP for 2 free spots at Trump's military birthday parade and not show up.
Link is pinned for you to go and not do that.

It’s been 24 hours since I watched the finale of The Rehearsal and I’m still processing what happened. 🤯

My wife and I are officially making our return to JamCruise after a 13 year hiatus!
