Somehow I had totally missed the `FormatStyle` addition to Foundation with iOS 15. I love the API and already have so many uses for the built-in formatters, as well as creating my own, and encapsulating some custom date formatting that uses a mix of date formatters depending on how long ago the date was / is.

@matt1corey not sure 😂 but it compiles obviously faster.

@matt1corey it is a bit faster for sure.

When working with remote systems, latency compensation is an important technique to avoid thrashing the remote system and prevent race conditions on the client.

@Mecid shows how you can use Task.sleep and Task.yield, and what's the difference.

@teilweise that’s a good catch, but actor reentrancy is not the point of this post. I have a dedicated post about actors where the topic is covered.

@mattiem Thanks Matt, I've changed the text to indicate that it may crash.

I have a dedicated post about actors where I discussed the reentrancy, decided to not talk much more about it here, because Actors are not the main topic of the post.

Let's start looking at managing mutable state with Swift concurrency!

So far, everything I've done in the past has been read-only. Here's another step-by-step post that examines stateful systems, actors, and reentrancy.
