So, I know it's been awhile since I posted on here but lately, I've been watching #ER outside of #QuantumLeap. I've actually been pairing ER with #House. So, I'm in a medical drama mood this year. Lol 😅
Name's Mike Mixtape. I'm a nostalgic retro nerd who loves movies, music, and television. I've been podcasting since 2010 and looking to level up my podcast game soon. I'll toot about pop culture with what I'm watching or listening to. Maybe some memes in between. Let's be Mastodon friends in this new modern future where going into. Thanks for visiting my page.

Watching #QuantumLeap thirty-five years after its premiere just feels like I missed out on this wonderful show. It came out in my birth year of 1989. As I continue Season 2, I'm connected to how well the writing in each episode stands out, especially being a time travel slice of life series. Seeing Sam solve these situational scenarios is very comforting to me. Like I haven't seen a show like this ever. I'm damn near close to saying that this is becoming a favorite of mine. It fills me with joy.
I guess #television is a go-to around here. Maybe I'll toot about television more often on here. 🖥
@UKFilmNerd well, that is true, but there's been multiple movies and shows of both properties from their start in 1984.
It's kind of insane that a television series from 1985, forty years ago, #TheEqualizer has 2 concurrent adaptations of the property, one in a film series starring Denzel Washington and the other a television show starring Queen Latifah. I wasn't expecting a resurgence like this. What other properties is like this? Maybe Fantasy Island for a brief period with that film and television series. That's all I can think of.
@UKFilmNerd well, I've noticed that the next jump tease at the end of most episodes doesn't line up. There were a couple of times where I was like, "Wait a minute..."
@srgower well, NCIS: New Orleans does star Scott Bakula. 😋
But also consider this: Sam Beckett jumps into Dwayne Pride's body (in like a time jump/alternative reality where he looks the same) and spends time in New Orleans for 7 years before jumping again. 😜
The funny thing about mentioning Donald P. Bellisario's shows last month is that I started to watch #QuantumLeap for the first time. I'm currently in Season 2. I like it so far. The chemistry between Sam and Al is on point, and the writing for each episode is so great. It's probably the best television writing I've seen in recent years. It's turning to become a new favorite for me. I love time travel, and this fits into my wheelhouse very well thus far.
@Anne_Delong Yeah, those channels are good. Most streaming doesn't have the classics. It sucks. 🫤
I realize that I have Donald P. Bellisario's first 3 television series with #MagnumPI, Tales of the Gold Monkey, and #Airwolf on DVD. I'm thinking of watching Magnum P.I. and Airwolf. It'll be neat to see how things aired on #CBS back in the 80s. I need some 80s television in my rotation. ✨️

@Anne_Delong I'm working on setting that up atm. Thank you.
I also have an alternative place as well for posting on Bluesky. I'll try to post equally at these places. It'll depend on my posts and who's out there. Thanks for following, and hopefully, it'll be a better year in 2025.

@darren Alright, I got it. Is there anything else I should know about the Fediverse?
@darren I might try. I do have Bluesky now, which is almost like Mastodon, I guess. I don't know. I just post. Nothing more beyond that with the technical stuff. 😅
@darren How do I do that? I don't know about that.
I feel like #Mastodon is an underrated place for socializing, but there's too much out there. It's too overwhelming for me. I'll occasionally post here, but I have officially switched to #Threads. So, if you want to know where I am, that's where I am at nowadays. Please follow me there if you want to. Thanks so much. I'll pop up in here and there. Peace out. ✌️
Mastodon isn't perfect.
But the fact a social network exists that is completely free to use
has no venture capital investors
has no shareholders to answer to
has no growth targets
with a web interface with zero tracking cookies
and mobile apps with zero trackers at all
with ten thousand server administrators who donate their time for user safety
is - in my opinion - mindbogglingly cool, given the state of the world we live in. Not everything has to be shit. People make things better.
The 80s in a nutshell: these were our great scientific minds.
