I would say it feels like I'm closing a chapter of my life, but it's closer to the end of Book 2 so I can start on Book 3.

Anyway, I finished my last shift and now I'm gonna see how high I get before I crash for the night.

Alright, I let the new brewery in Boston I’m available after the 4th of July weekend. They said that that works great as long as I have and give them a set date so they can plan things out with me. I’m looking into relocating between July 7th - 13th and looking to start my new job by the 14th of July. If anyone in Boston (preferably around Hyde Park) has space for rent or temporary housing, feel free to reach out to me! I am looking for apartments currently (despite how expensive they can be) in the meantime. Anyone is welcome to spread this message around ^^ I greatly appreciate any help and support!

I'm prep for coaster road trips this summer, I'm looking for a decent Dash Cam for under $200. If anyone has a recommendation, I would appreciate it.

And they kept the pink one in the closet. Like, I'm not saying I'm trans, but it's like a gay and/or trans allegory going on.

These days it just makes me laugh. It wasn't any sort of intentional thing by anyone involved. It's just the way life plays out.

I have both a blue baby blanket and a pink baby blanket made by my grandma.

I feel like it was foreshadowing things...

@Rusty Who's a cute little paw lover? Is it you? It is! Yes it is!

Today was my last appointment with my Mental Health Therapist. He thinks I'm doing well and believes that I'm in a good place to move forward with my life. I'll miss him, he was a good therapist and very supportive.

Going through my finances with a fine comb to make sure I don't miss anything with the move. I mean, I'm only switching banks at the same time, no biggy... *facepalms at myself*

Why I like to cook:
1. I like tasty things.
2. It's like art and science combined.
3. I can make things healthier than they would be otherwise.
4. I enjoy exploring flavors and leaning how to use them.

Finally have the energy to prepare good again. And not just because I need to, but because I want to.

Made a batch of guacamole that's a bit on the spicy side, but very tasty. It's just hard to tell how hot the jalapenos will be until you cut them.

Small stuff like that is the basis for larger cooking projects, so having the motivation and energy to do it is nice. Probably won't do any really complicated stuff until after I move, though.

@Rusty Thank you for all the info! It's been helpful

@Rusty Hmmm... I'll get it figured out. There's multiple solutions to everything with Home Assistant. If Google won't work, it looks like Samsung SmartThings might.

Anyway... Still better than dealing with MyQ and their attempt to not be integrated with anything.

2025-06-04

@Rusty Yeah, I saw the Homebridge solution, but unless it's really sucky, I don't mind bridging it via Google.

The nice thing is that I'm starting basically from scratch on everything, so it's not like I'm locked into any one system.

2025-06-03

@Rusty Nah, don't have the opener yet. Just doing the pre-research! But they make a retofit kit that's similar to MyQ, but less butts.

2025-06-03

@Rusty Thankfully Amazon added support for Genie's Aladdin system which supports integration with Google Home (et al) so I can bridge it more easily. And yeah, totally looking for camera that are local only, but it'll end up being about cost.

I figured I might need Zigbee for something, but I saw they make those dongles, so hopefully that'll make it easier.

2025-06-03

@Rusty Well, then fun bit is my Brother wants one of the garage door opener solutions that support Amazon Key. Beyond that, it's whatever I find that works and fits the budget. Some lights and fans, front door bolt and camera, eventually the thermostat.

Since I can tie most things in through Home Assistant, I'm not too worried other than the damn g-door opener.

2025-06-03

@Rusty ok... Since you're here...

I'll be helping add automation to a house that doesn't currently have any. Can definitely set up Home Assistant for interface/control, probably use an old desktop.

So... Just to make sure I'm not missing something... At that point I just install the integrations for the services the devices expect, right? Although would have to add an appropriate border router for the ones that aren't WiFi.

I'm just trying to determine my options so I can start planning out upgrades to the house.
