Once again finding myself thankful for the @NIME community archiving all the conference papers in such an easy-to-access manner. This multiplies the value of the conference so much to have them so accessible. nime.org/archives/

Looking at the Movement Computing conference at the same time, and they're all behind an ACM paywall, mostly at $15 per paper. Shame to see all this work made so difficult to read.

Upcoming publication @NIME on LoopBoxes - a modular set of tangible interfaces for digital musical instruments. We tested the LoopBoxes in two field studies, on a music festival and a school setting for children with special educational needs (SEN). People enjoyed playing overall, but we also identified some challenges when adapting the instruments for very specific user needs.

Two scenes from a festival with two girls who interact with a tangible step sequencer. Other people in the background use other tangible musical instruments that together create a collaborative music making experience. The people are half covered by a tent with further electronics and an instructor who helps people use the instruments.
