I thought Gold line was being extended to Mpls in a year or so (bringing high frequency I-94 trips.. And I assume retiring the 94C). Is this in preparation for that?
Hi, I'm NNN! I live in Minneapolis Minnesota, a very large "small town" in north-middle USA. I enjoy playing the violin, nordic skiing, k-dramas and sewing. I don't drive, so I'm really interested in bicycle commuting and transit. I'm vegetarian, and love beans in their many shapes and textures.

@shifter
Thats an interesting feature on the "Hindsight" glasses... like an eyeglass-mount mirror, except built in!

I think it would squish flat, based on what I saw when I pounded-out the rivets.
But I'm not doing mountain bike jumps with it, and I have it set pretty firm.

- Learn who will service it before you buy it:
where I live, shops won't work on a bike purchased elsewhere.. even if they sell the same bike.
- maybe visit a shop like Halfords to see what they will service (Carerra, Boardman, Apollo?) and watch used listings for those
- used eBikes sold without the charger or battery are probably stolen.
- I suspect that an ebike from a shop (like 1150 quid Carrerra Subway) costs ~800 used

I check tire pressure by climbing on the bike and "bouncing" a bit, and seeing if the tire flattens out. If the tire is 50lb/square inch, and my thumb can only push on a half of a square inch, then I'd need like 100 lbs of pressure, which is out of my league.

(A8) I was happy with the Panaracer Hardpack Comet ... half the price of the trendier GravelKing . They seemed supple enough to "flow" over bumps at modest tire pressure, which gave decent comfort.
I just switched bikes, and need to wear-out the stock tires first, but will probably go back to the Comets after that.

(A6) I have bought used jerseys on ebay/Craigslist because I buy most things used. Burning your old jersey because you gained a few pounds seems a bit wasteful.

(A2) I've filed down the ridges, or the points on screws, so I could ride to the beach in swim shoes.

#bikenite (A1) Posting from sunny Minneapolis, where my accomplishment was cleaning a bike chain on a bike that was laying in a garage for 15 years. Using only dish soap.

I've seen BMX bars used to gave a big rise, with a funky look (though maybe not your preferred funk)

I use FindMyDevice from the F-Droid repository (like open-source PlayStore). It doesn't use a cloud, and works where these is no LTE data.
Your friend sends a text to your phone, and your phone replies with a text giving its GPS location and a link to a map.
(you share Location with FindMyDevice but not Google)
If you want a realtime trail/history, then you either need to trust the developer and use their cloud server, or run your own (probably not what you want).

Oh, you like catchy songs... there's a "BTS"(-ish) song about leukocytes :) !

Interesting thought on 3x chainring + wide rear cogs. On my MTB, I found the big-to-middle chainrings only changed gear ratio equivalent to about 1.5 rear cogs, and it seemed kind-of pointless, with so much overlap. So I was considering either:
- using a road rear cluster: I'd have to use the middle chainring and granny gears more, but would gain a finer resolution on gearing.
- OR going 1x up front with a big rear cluster

I'm imagining a beachcruiser bike here...

Chinese 50cc scooters have always had importers (the "Baron" importer was based here in Minneapolis), and no direct-to-consumer.
If that was extended to ebikes, that would probably kill 90% of it.

Yes, but does my working from home make my *wife* happier?

Compare a German rail crossing (at-grade, visual and audible signal, but no barrier):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NyPJXlXqPq4
The US needs visual & audible signals at all crossings.
Today's whistle is on the train, 15-20 seconds before crossing. At 60mph, it must be clear 1/3 mile away.
Put the bell should be at the crossing, so it only needs to be heard 1/10 mile away.
Amtrak would be so much quieter too!

Father used to say "Dollars to donuts, he's going to [throw a slider.. .or some other bettable action]"
