It’s like managing a combination Toddler and Teenager. TeenyTodds, if you will.

A two-panel cartoon about actual data organization. The top panel, "How data should be organised," shows a neat file structure with folders for projects, experiments, and data types, all with logical naming conventions. The bottom panel, "How most data is actually organised," shows a dumpster overflowing with files and labeled "TEMP"

Super interesting read.

I’m glad that my School Boy Deuteche led me to assume einhundertneun as the right option.

FWIW I always find that pronouncing each number (1-0-9) is more of an Anglican version of pronunciation.

The Kremlin: … #OpensWindow … “I’m sorry, what were you saying …”

And go back and blame the senior management who refuse to listen to their subordinates who repeatedly exclaim that this will result in security risks being introduced. And for ignoring those people who have been there, experienced it, and lived a life of picking up the pieces too.

Having worked for outsourced MSPs and various other service provider types — NOBDOY CARES about YOUR governance.

They care about ticket resolution metrics, and hunting out new revenue streams.
They care about minimizing their agent costs, and getting stuff done asap so they can stack more work from you and other customers.
If they are a certain type of off-shore resource then they will just do whatever the person on the phone tells them.

I am so shocked that people who use these LLMs really think that they work.

They are like a cross between a toddler and a teenager. No amount of guidelines and rules will make it behave … because … it simply doesn’t think that way.

Popular JavaScript libraries eslint-config-prettier and eslint-plugin-prettier were hijacked this week and turned into malware droppers, in a supply chain attack achieved via targeted phishing and credential theft.

That Gottalaff profile is toxic. I followed her for a while, but you really witness a ‘summoning of the trolls’ on her feed quite frequently!

Common Sense is frequently missing in social media. The want to reply, respond and amplify overtakes the want to think and reason.
The fresh hit of dopamine compounds it, as throwing a user under the bus for a single quote post, sometimes in such isolation to a thread that it makes no sense, is the reward.

These are one of my favourite things about having a pond:

Low angle of a pond, showing water lettuce, lily pads and a pink lily flower in the foreground. Grasses and green foliage are in the background

I want to have study done on users of GenAI tools, who take the time to validate outputs and steer them into accurate responses.
Key metrics should include:
- Coffee consumption
- Headaches experienced
- Time spent pacing in anger
- ‘Travis Bickle mirror’ moments

I totally think there should be some Critical Thinking and Skepticism focused classes for the internet, at large.

How to navigate Google/Web Searches
How to “control” GenAI
Critical Thinking in Social Media
How to DYOR, with credible sources
Etc. etc.
