Trying to find out who I actually am, after 40 years of masking and not knowing how to set boundaries. #ActuallyAutistic with #EhlersDanlosSyndrome and #PrimaryImmunodeficiency, among others.
My two sweet rescue cats make life bearable. I collect hobbies without ever mastering one, including painting, knitting, sewing, and piano. Record collecting is pretty rad, too.

@llPK Ooh, that sounds like a good soothing show, I'll check that out. I do prefer musical cues, it seems to be the best thing for me to motivate or regulate. And podcasts for concentration. I have two cats that keep me on a decent schedule too. It's good for all of us when they demand food and play at the same times every day!

It is understandable
that those meeting with
the president
should be tested for the virus
after all, the president is
an important person
to many people
but you who are told
that you must learn
to live with the virus
please remember
you are an important person
to many people too.

@greengaybles Ahh, the Flop House podcast just did Troll 2 for their 400th episode, so I watched it last night! It's so nice to talk to someone who gets these references!

@greengaybles Exactly!! That's why I love MST3K, it's like I'm watching with aficionados, if there's nobody here to watch with. Do you have a favorite bad movie?

I'm curious to know what types of rituals keep other #ActuallyAutistics on some sort of daily rhythm. My big one for the past year has been streaming radio shows. I wake up to WFMU's Wake and Bake, which drives me to get through work. On Sunday afternoons when I need to get back energy, I put on Hipbilly Jamboree on WXNA. Extra bonus, it gets me out of the "same old playlist" funk!

Bad movies can be soul-cleansing sometimes. Thanks, "Fateful Findings"!

@Soozcat Wow, I had forgotten about this! And didn't expect her to still be offering the free PDF of the cookbook. Thanks!

@nellie_m Nite nite, rest well!

@MarmadukeCWest Looking at the reviews now, thank you for the recommendation!

@nellie_m Oh, and I don't have much energy to make my own pierogi anymore, it's such a labor intensive process without a group of people to form an assembly line!

@nellie_m My hips are hypermobile from EDS, so they basically don't stay in place. Most of my hypermobility issues have been in the hip areas. Dysplasia sounds like no fun either, though! No worries about questions, I'm mostly an open book ๐Ÿ˜Š
Ohhh, you've had actual Polish pierogi, I'm so jealous! They've always been one of my favorite foods, and now living in a place where they're not as common makes me really miss freshly made! I'd love to know more about your trip to Poland.

@nellie_m Well, I had an appointment today with a new doctor about my hip. My surgeon doesn't want to fuse that side yet, so back down the fun path of injections in the joint. One is scheduled for August. At least I felt listened to, that's so important!

@nellie_m Oh, goodness!! I'm so glad you're ok after that. ๐Ÿ’—

There needs to be a cookbook for disabled folks that considers spoon levels and lack of cash for expensive groceries.

@nellie_m Awww gosh, thank you for checking in! I'm upright today, so not doing terrible. Hope you're doing well ๐Ÿ˜Š

Less discussed autistic experience: Micro special interests. I hadn't really cared about The Weather Channel until the algorithm suggested TWS archives after my binge of vintage channel sign-offs. Now, while insomnia won't let me sleep, I'm nerding out on March 1993 Storm of the Century footage.

@nellie_m @Pathfinder @vigour_mortis I could use that sign, too!

@Pathfinder @vigour_mortis Thatโ€™s my goal, it's exactly what I need to be doing! I have to change my cleaning comfort levels, especially since I also live alone (besides cats.) Thanks for the reminder that other folks do this, and it helps!

@vigour_mortis Thatโ€™s validating, thank you! It's hard to realize how much I'm doing when I'm in it, but yeah. It's a lot!
