Honestly, I love it here. The core functionality and mission of the Fediverse makes me hopeful for the future of the internet. I really hope it continues to catch on and be used by more people, but I'm also pretty content with how comfy it is right now. You don't need a reason to want to block adverts.

It doesn't have to be for security reasons (although there are good security reasons).

You don't have to do it because you want to lessen online surveillance (although that's a good thing too).

You can do it just because you don't want someone trying to sell you something the whole damn time, getting up in your face and interrupting your reading/viewing.

You can block ads because it's simply a form of self-care.

also, i dunno about other areas, but here in FL when a storm threatens, you can often get them from home depot, lowes, etc. usually pre-filled in piles outside the store, but sometimes they'll literally just have a pile a sand, you grab a bag and start filling.
