Picked up this Kidnet book to flip through ($0.75) - I wonder where Compuserve Scott is today :)
Collecting old computer and video game stuff is a hobby along with trying to repair what I can. Still learning. My posts and follows are strictly kept to things related to neat retro PC/Video Game stuff I find, am working on, collecting and interacting with the community on the same. If that's the content you like, then welcome in! :)

My one Sunday pickup at the flea this weekend was these three Extron VSW VGA A switchers, for $3 each with the power supplies. I picked them up mainly for the backup power supplies, but perhaps I can find a fun use or two for the units themselves.
Another sale had this potato-cam set - can only imagine how bad the video would be over parallel port. Didn’t get it, just fun to see.
I was out at the yard sales today, at one church sale a lady was using the paper from this OS/2 promo item for labels and I took notice of it. Started talking to her about it and she ended up giving it to me (there was also homemade muffins for sale, too). :)
@kiwa I fully support you being the first if not :)
@kiwa running a website from it when? :)
@kiteless That's an excellent idea. You could even take it one step further and print the photos and paste them to the bin so you can more easily see what's inside when they are stacked.
Not much today - did see some Gateway PC binders that have various software from back when they’d pack in tons of applications with a new computer. Also this set of Beta tapes with Japanese? handwritten labels.
The IBM 760ED booted right up - 48mb RAM, Pentium CPU, Win95. The Gateway PSU is dead, the other is a different plug - my multi plug kit doesn’t have a plug for it either.
The Gateway Solo was definitely worth a pickup - came with a matching dock and two power supplies. Hopefully both laptops work, will have to test later and find out. The bag the IBM was in is pretty dirty, but at least it came with the power supply as well (weird plug).
Along with the laptops was some RAM, thought it'd be more useful but it's mostly PC3 (should have checked closer) but part of the package for $15 - meh in hindsight, but I might still find use for it. Finally, got a set of Saitek flight sticks for $15...(cont)
Another vendor had a load of PC things - ended up with this IBM 760ED and Gateway 2000 Solo Laptop for $18 total. The Dell was $10, but no charger and two laptops were enough as is :) ...(cont)
Another day of finds at the flea - started off with this Laser 3 1/5" external floppy drive and Echo thing? for $7. I don't have a Laser 128 machine, but still worth picking up, I think. Not sure what the Echo thing is yet, will have to do some looking up on both items...(cont)
If you'd like to see footage from my recent trip to the PinFest in Allentown, PA - I just posted up a video on YouTube. Please check it out! Once again, I filmed with my Sony MiniDV camcorder. https://youtu.be/3Vt3v86ZlOY
@kalleboo is that the model where on the flip side of the board, there's one electrolytic capacitor along the side? I've watched some other repair vids where that had to be replaced to get a Newton going again.
Got another CF to IDE adapter in - now they are both back up and running. Still need to figure out the drivers for the PCMCIA network card and I’ll be gold.
It took some doing to find the right combo of software - but the JamCam also works. I even had a 16mb MMC card to stick in it, with that it could take up to 70 photos. Neat. (The Celeron PC with Win98 saved the day.)
A bit of a deeper dive yielded more photos - most of the stuff is personal, but some fun moments backstage/pre-show, probably celebs I don't know and some Emmy(?) award party. Probably the absolute coolest is a photo of William Shatner and Steven Colbert!
This past weekend I visited PinFest in Allentown, PA for the first time. It was a fun experience. A lot of free play tables, tables for sale, parts and pieces, mods, etc. One highlight was trying the new Dungeons and Dragons Stern table - it had a waiting line, but worth it! :)
Oh wow - I think this laptop is the real deal. Just a preliminary recovery of some images - these are very small and crap quality but still, how freaking cool!
