I often crop my photos in an effort to make them more abstract/composed/whatever but that means I sometimes can't even remember what it was a photo of to begin with.

I started looking through uncropped versions of photos and thought it was interesting to see how they started and how they ended up, so I figured I'd share some examples.

These are all color to black and white because they show the biggest difference from start to finish.

Both feature an upward shot of a ladder going up the side of a building with a circular cage where it appears as if the cage has been bent into an irregular shape, but the original shows more of the side of the building a surrounding building

Both feature a view of the Bay Bridge in the fog, but the uncrossed version shows more of the bridge and road with cars and the interior of a bus from where the photo was taken.

Both feature a puddle with buildings reflected in it, but the original shows more of the street and surrounding buildings and the cropped version has been rotated by about 180 degrees to make the reflection of the buildings appear right side up..

Both feature the platform for BART which is the mass transit system in the Bay Area, but the cropped version focus on two specific scenes: (1) Man waiting with his bike and (2) A different man walking two dogs

If anyone is interested, here are some examples of my uncropped photos compared to their cropped/composed versions (this time in full color).
