📌Recorded attacks from ISIS sleeper cells rose 37.5% from 189 in 2023 to 260 in 2024 – which is still lower than 2022’s 285.

📌Number of deaths from these attacks fell 56.7% from 247 in 2023 to 107 in 2024 – a steady decrease since 2022 which was at 362.

📌Numbers of SDF and Asayish raids decreased marginally from 121 in 2023 to 115 in 2024. Arrests of suspected ISIS members rose however, reaching 556 in 2024, compared to 352 in 2023.

In a pre-recorded speech played at the conference, SDF Commander-in-Chief, Mazloum Abdi, stressed that stopping Turkey's aggression towards NES remained a key factor, and urged the Syrian Caretaker Government to also intervene on the matter.

The second was future-oriented, considering paths ahead for constructing a new political system and Syrian constitution. This included debate on what kind of democratic framework could protect the rights of all & strengthen the role of women in the socio-political sphere.

Within the various topics raised in discussion, decentralization of the state, national identity, social cohesion, transitional justice and accountability for war crimes committed featured prominently.

The conference was divided into two sessions. The first had a historical framework. Speakers touched on the repercussions of nation-state building efforts in Syria's past, and the social tensions and political crises that had emerged in the past 100 years inside the country.

Yesterday, the Syrian Forum for National Dialogue was held in Raqqa.

250 people convened, including politicians, civil society reps, activists and tribal figures from NES, Aleppo, Damascus, Suwayda and Syria's coast. There was also participation from Syrians living in Europe.
