Firearms is a topic that has a way of separating performative allies looking to gain clout or give themselves a warm fuzzy by loosely associating with marginalized folks from accomplices dedicated to destroying systems of oppression and meaningfully contributing to the liberation of marginalized folks.

It is no secret that the earlier stages of a genocide of queer people, specifically transgender people, is underway in the US. As with all genocides one of the largest groups of people are those who stand aside and allow it to occur. Thus, it should come as no surprise that those perpetrating this genocide are taking great efforts to separate queer folks from their accomplices.

Several of our members participate in the brutality shooting competitions organized by @InRangeTV because they are organized by a team who steadfastly refuses to compromise on the notion that the right to use arms for self defense includes everyone and is not limited to the dominant majority. Unsurprisingly, @InRangeTV has come under enormous pressure recently as a result of their explicit support of queer folks.

By creating an explicitly inclusive space where folks can develop and test their skills with firearms @InRangeTV has done more to fight against this genocide than any number of performative allies looking for a pat on the back, politicians championing gun control, or "apolitical" bystanders silently clutching their pearls.

The ATF just dropped their brace ban rule.
We can't tell you what to do, we're not lawyers, but we'll say this:
Gun control is always meant to disarm marginalized people to pacify the sensibilities and fears of cishet white suburban America.

The NFA banned the low cost handguns many people in the working class relied on for self protection (so called "Saturday night specials").
California's first gun control laws were passed to disarm the Black Panthers.
Gun control is & always has been Classist, Racist, and Queerphobic.

Change the way you think about deescalation. Even leftists tend to have a perception that's shaped by ideas of "acceptable" versus "unacceptable" violence that only protect the status quo. We are subjected to deep, traumatic, dehumanizing violence every moment of every day. Preventing access to food or medical care. Making laws to legislate our existence. Threatening or executing forceful eviction from our homes for daring not to obey our landlords, or failing to give them a sufficient portion of our resources. Not to mention police terrorism

We have the right to defend ourselves and each other against these forms of violence just as against a physical attack. This is not an escalation. The violence built into the world is unacceptable, and we don't have to just take it. We can and should secure for ourselves food, medicine, shelter, safety, dignity, by force if necessary. And it is necessary, because it is by force that we have been deprived of these things

Life doesn't have to be this way. Don't wait for things to become intolerable to act. Things become intolerable when you decide to stop tolerating what is being done to you and act to end it
