Review of "Harriet Tubman : Live in Concert" (4 stars): Intentional, and entertaining
I am putting off the McCarthy book, cause this one just spoke to me.
I had heard of the concept a while ago. And Jumped at the chance for this. As a pacifist, this concept is very interesting, very enduring to me. Especially as I pursue online pacifism in interactions.

Review of "All the Ways to Go" (4 stars): Character complexity, over game complexity
Good word on this. Reviews are all pretty high, and insisting it needs being tough.

Listening on Everand. And It's Another Full Cast Performance!
Very ready for more #Redwall stories. Always fun yet serious. And this time, it's a generation after the first. So some of my fav chars are back (Yay, Constance the badger). Tho I am going to have to catch up on things. It's been a while since this era of Mossflower. #Fantasy #books @bookstodon@a.gup.pe

Oh hell yea! We can talk about comics here?! I might make a separate account for this, but kick ass!
The way I'm doing this is working form the -listing- for the -trade paperback-. Which is not out yet. -Then-, commenting per issue. And prob do a review once the run or this volume-set is done that's the theory.
This has really been a good run so far. Beeaauutiful art by Sampere. It's been all caught up in the AbsolutePower, but I cant wait to see what happens with the Soverign, the Amazons (who had a big blow in the tie-in), and Trinity. I am warming up to her. And seeing her and Jon and Damien has been like reading SuperSons again. This is the only version of Jon Kent I can look at. As -this- would be the timeframe where he would be grown. (No, I cant get over it, except here)

Finished The Body. The movie for this also really kept to the story. Except for who olds the gun at the end. We also see more aftermath in the novella. Plus more from the narrator, which kinds indicats the could be semi-autobiographical. I will say there are also more slurs in the novella. Homophobic, 1 antiblack, and prob a few others I dont know. I dont know if this was to be accurate to the time period. But even then, it's depressing to know that was typical at the time.
It's weird how much one relates to the experience of these kids going out to see a dead body. Especially with how foul mouthed, broken, beaten, ignorant, dorky, and immature they are. Maybe that is the story being honest about who any of us are like at that age. Pleading guilty of being young and dumb.

I have -FINALLY- finished Apt Pupil. With an ending that makes the ickyness... not sure if I want to say worth it. But, at long last, it is over.
My guess is this was a full confrontation with the fact of evil's existence. Not letting it be some abstract idea out somewhere. This is allowing evil's concept to be in your mind for a while to remind you it is a fact. And remind what it does. And how it thinks. That is uncomfortable, to say the least. But, it ~can~ inoculate complacency. To warn against trusting hansom goodness on face value.
But, at least I am at my intended story of The Body.

I'm starting to think this is pro aristocracy, pro-nobility. Which doesnt feel great.
Also, halfway thru, and there are human-to-frog transformations, a siren, ghosts, giant spiders. -but -not -fur -nor -feather -of -one -freaking -gryphon. I am not amused.

Maybe it is me. But I had to stop. There are some interesting ideas in here. But so much of it is wrapped up in this dry, heavy language. Also has alot of tangents about environmentalism (usually love) that detract from the heavy subject at hand. Lets keep to one heavy concept at a time.
It also could be I'm spoiled from How to be Yourself, which was so easy to listen to, understand. So this by comparison was unpleasant.

Interesting going form starting with the movie, to hearing this. The movie is its own kind of interesting. But I like how the author frames the story here around what Katness experiences. The causal, passive suffering she and her family and her town experiences. There is now seeing the awesome power of the villain, that some would make aspirational. Only the harm the victim suffers from the abuse by the villains.
