Over the weekend, we play tested Din's Champion a bunch & I wrote down over 70 lines of notes. I'm still going to count that as a win. :)
In this Din's Champion screenshot, my wife has made a house for us and basically a hotel for NPCs underground on a scenic, rainy night. #indiegame #screenshotsaturday
Version 0.833 of Din's Champion is now available! This patch fixes a couple crashes, fixes a rare loading issue, adds a bunch of new small locations (Jails, Craters, Galleries, etc), furnishes already existing houses much better, and fixes several other minor issues.
Rumor is that the Battlefield 6 developers want to have 100 million players. While we are wishing for unreasonable things, I would also like Din's Champion to have a 100 million players. :)
I've thought for a long time that way too many games don't take enough creative risks. It's likely the brain drain from all of the recent game industry layoffs and the huge uptake of generative AI usage is going to make that worse. Fight this by buying some indie games! :)
I added some more cool, small locations to Din's Champion in the last few days, things like Deep Wells, Jails, Encampments, and Craters.
Remember, Soldak's games are 20-75% off during Steam's Summer Sale! - https://store.steampowered.com/dev/soldak
We play tested Din's Champion last night for a little over an hour and I didn't write down any notes. I'm taking that as a win. :) #indiedev
I'm so used to doing Din's Champion builds on Fridays that since I did a build yesterday (Thursday), it felt like I was working over the weekend today. :) #indiedev
Version 0.832 of Din's Champion is now available! This patch adds shovel pickaxes, adds several new small areas (Oasis, Mystic Arch, Monolith, etc), adds Holy Water as a new liquid, and fixes several other minor issues.
All of Soldak's games on Steam are on sale during the Steam Summer Sale! https://store.steampowered.com/dev/soldak
This week I've been adding more cool things to find on your adventures in Din's Champion, things like Vaults, Mystic Arches, and Monoliths.
In the next build of Din's Champion there will be shovel pickaxes. They won't have as much digging power as a normal pickaxe, but they will hit up to 3 blocks at once.
While testing today, I found my first oasis with holy water in Din's Champion. I happily jumped in which caused about half of the water to splash out and down the side of a cliff. Did I mention dynamic world? :)
I start adding a small Oasis area to Din's Champion, decide the water there should heal you, decide to make it holy water (new liquid), start considering how this can be used in the crafting system and when the gods can spawn it. Wait, what was I working on? #indiedev
I've been looking at marketing companies for Din's Champion the last few weeks. Spending a ton of money while struggling financially is pretty terrifying, but unfortunately probably necessary. #wishlistwednesday
Version 0.831 of Din's Champion is now available! This patch improves knockback, improves the dynamic combat music, makes quests in small areas work better, improves collections, and fixes several other minor issues.
I was going through our Din's Champion Steam reviews and noticed that one of them was from someone with over 1,000 hours played. I think 1,000 hours played for a $20 game is pretty good value. :)
I always have a hard time coming up with things to post (introvert thing). What would you like me to post about?
