JUST IN: Rep. Bennie Thompson (former chair of the Jan. 6 committee) has introduced legislation that would terminate Secret Service protection for, uh, anyone sentenced to a year or more in jail.

The rule of law in this country is being challenged right now, today, before our eyes. Any other defendant who violated a pre or midtrial gag order seven times would be, minimally, thrown in jail for a night to be taught a lesson to comply. This is legal, it would be immediate: no appeals. Let's see what happens. Crossing my fingers that our judicial process is not made into a mockery by this criminal.
