Ah yes! The British Museum, containing nothing that is actually British.

Welcome to my corner of #3DPrinting π¨οΈ adventures & #Python :python: shenanigans! π»
I mostly post about strange 3D printing encounters π οΈ and my journey to mastering Python πͺπΌ but fear not! I also get stuck on π #privacy, #opensource and #infosec

I am not a Creality fanboy or denier of the criticism they receive, but I do buy their printers, as you know, and also their filament.
My argument is similar to yours: if I am in a pinch, in a store where I have a bunch of filaments I don't know, my best and safest bet is Creality. For a long time, I actually only used their ABS; their PLA is fine, and the HF PLA is actually great printing-wise. The HF PLA just prints well; I have no comment on the HF aspects, but the additives do result in a good print. The white also looks different, an off-white final color.
I have never tried their PETG, and CF variants haven't been available locally yet.
@koz @3dprinting Let's make 3D printing difficult again!
What made you decide on the #BoxTurtle instead of something like the Carrot Feeder, which is more popular? I've never heard of the BoxTurtle.
The Creality K1 is like this because you need to root it and make backups; sometimes you lose your history, etc. I simply don't update unless there is a security vulnerability or some major feature. I do, however, update Fluid and Mainsail.
Be me, never considering putting my filament in a microwave
@dennis @3dprinting i also don't understand.
"Look at my code. Read and understand it. It is mine don't copy it".
Just patent at this point. It is a poor man's patent.
It is an attractive machine and a great facelift. The ~ $400 upgrade kit for the MK4 is a great achievement and makes it competitive. But I don't remember even hearing an exaggerated speed claim in mm/s or volumetric flow approximation in the video. Simply "all filaments print the same speed".
Interesting thing, they mention PLA, PETG, ASA, and Polycarbonate but not ABS. Hinting at their declined support for a good filament, if you have the setup.
Overall. Good for them, they are embracing a more open ecosystem, but open hardware open software, and accessible APIs for some GPIOs are different.
I need to see a technical and dumbed down by someone who should stick to resin printing reviews on Youtube before I can further judge it.
It is however laye to the party. Bambu has made a name, the K2C has only a dual z axis and Qidi Pro is as plastic as Hollywood. The competition isn't too strong so any innovation is good for the space.
Bambu are locally too expensive, for a company and me this might be it!
Is it possible to change the color scheme to just be gray and not the rainbow purple
@koz BTW, have you seen Multi-board?
I hate using glue stick on my printers. It is messy and feels gross. You also need to wash your plate more often, even between successive prints, due to the build-up.
I've also found that it possibly leaves bumps and textures. Therefore, I prefer hairspray, and I don't print PETG without it. It pops off like PLA but never comes off by itself during a print. I have had a lot of success using it and am probably on my second or third can since I started using it.
For ABS, however, you need an adhesive to keep it stuck to the bed. For that, Dimafix is probably the best thing on the market for me.
Today, the 3D printing gods blessed me with dry PETG.
They saw me as unthankful and ensured I would forever know and remember the day of my dry PETG by permanently fusing it to my bed.
I feel like a proud uncle, seeing this thing growing up over the last year!
These look great! @koz what is your experience painting resin prints vs FDM?
Glad to hear! After developing this bot, people informed me that we have a large group of people dependent on it in the 3D printing community. Hope this helps them out. Thanks for the work.
