Ann Coulter o @AnnCoulter Emergency room doctors pull cue balls, vines & gummy bears out of human orifices every week. That doesn't make them experts on pool, horticulture or chewy candy. Rick Pescatore, DO Pescatore Hi, Satan! I'm an ER doc. If you add up every gummy bear, cue ball, or copy of your shitty books l've pulled out of orifices, it doesn't even approach the number of moms I've had to tell their kids are dead from guns. Stick w/the xenophobia+racism you're so good at and GTFO our lane.

#Witkoff has just said that if deal is agreed, #Russia will “legally guarantee #Ukraine security”.

As a reminder Russia has already “legally guaranteed” Ukraine’s security in 1994 Budapest Memorandum, “legally guaranteed” Ukraine’s borders in 1999 Friendship Treaty and then confirmed their demarcation in a number of bilateral agreements it signed before 2014.

That should tell you everything about how much Russia’s “legal guarantees” are worth…

I'd point out that we also passed bills out of the House to undo Dobbs and give 167 million full bodily autonomy, to provide universal background checks on gun sales to protect 330 million Americans... in both cases, the rights of 40 Senators were seen as more worthy of protection.

The decision by the Senate in the 117th not to "go nuclear" and use a simple majority to change Senate rules and make it (slightly) more democratic is why TX is redistricting and why Trump is taking over DC. As the song says, if you choose not to decide you still have made a choice.

There is this fear that "if we get rid of the filibuster to do popular things the other side will do unpopular things". And maybe that's right. But only in the Senate - an institution DESIGNED to frustrate the will of the people - is doing popular things seen as a risky proposition.

This is the cost of the Senate filibuster: the last time the House, Senate and POTUS were all under D control (2020 - 2022) the House passed bills to eliminate gerrymandering and give DC statehood. The Senate did nothing on either in spite of having majority support. And so here we are.

So ICE raided a construction site in our neighborhood and two of the workers tried to get away. They got in their truck, hit one of the ICE vehicles and drove off. The ICE officers *opened fire* on them. They abandoned their vehicle in the neighborhood to try to escape on foot. So now we’re all ordered to “shelter in place” and “stay away from windows” so the swarming gestapo can shoot up the place with a free hand.

How’s your day going?

Hello Americans on Mastodon, I know we don't feel like there's much to celebrate this July 4th. It's been a rough several years.

So I want to talk about how we're making history right now.

Some of y’all have forgotten that the reason democracy exists now is because a long time ago people got tired of having their heads chopped off.

#trump, #StephenMiller, and Tom Homan are FURIOUS about this ICEBlock app, which informs folks where #ICE is operating.

So you definitely shouldn't RT this like crazy, because it would make trump even madder.

Narrative 1: China is dumping cheap solar panels onto the world by unfairly subsidizing its solar industry. Narrative 2: US, Russia, Saudi are dumping cheap oil and gas onto the world by unfairly subsidizing production and transport. Both can be defended with facts. Which one do you hear more?
