For the past week or so, I’ve been blogging about being an #UnpaidCarer including writing a whole load of #haikus.
If this is your kind of thing, then do take a look but please be gentle with me 😉
Carer. Buddhist. Researcher. Clueless. She/her.

Thread:
Years ago I worked as a tech advisor for NGOs, and alongside one client I ended up present at some meetings of ministers, and watched a press conference Tony Blair did. It was astonishing.
I won't bore you with details of the campaign I was part of, but Blair had a statement about a thing relating to it.
Around 60 journalists all wanted to ask about other things.
For new people (or returnees) settling in here, this is a piece of advice I haven't seen mentioned yet. Go to Settings and choose "Advanced Web Interface." That means Mastodon will pretty much look like Tweetdeck on your desktop. Much easier to manage lists and replies, and easier to follow people from that set up.
@citc it’s more I joined a while back when I was uncertain about carrying on on Twitter… I’m tempted back here again. We’ll see. Hope you have a lovely Sunday!
Is it time for me to hang out over on here again? Will you have me back? Anyway here’s a photo I took when walking my dog yesterday. #SunnySuffolk
@samfordsaunders so sorry for the inexcusably long delay … lots of reasons which I won’t bore you with here. But your BELMAS blog will be published this / next week & will be my last as blog editor. Thanks for submitting your blog & wishing you well!
I loved feeling the warmth of the wintry sun on my face today. #Suffolk
No functioning health service, no functioning transport, desperate public homeless and at food banks, and the the top story on bbc news is more royal nonsense. #BrokenBritain
Finally getting around to reading this #bellhooks #AllAboutLove #LoveAndCare
First time my husband has been out of the house since 27 November, since when he’s had a fall & we’ve had Covid. So lovely to feel the fresh air & wintry sunshine on our faces.
@Adventurer thank you, feeling almost human today!
@jayarava thanks, feeling almost human today.
I’ve been quiet on here of late because Covid has finally arrived in our household. Despite having all the jabs available, I’ve felt really rough 😔

No power can stand before them,
And there is no speed to flee.
Don’t waste your day,
A little or a lot. Every night that passes
Shortens your life by that much.
Walking or standing,
Sitting or lying down:
Your final night draws near.
You have no time to be heedless.

The world is crushed by death,
Surrounded by old age,
Struck by the dart of craving,
And ever obscured by desire.
The world is crushed by death,
Caged by old age,
Beaten constantly, without respite,
Like a thief being flogged.
Three things are coming, like a wall of flame:
Death, disease, and old age.

@ReadingFaithfully_org @jayarava not currently, but I’d like to. I like having a Pali version available.
@jayarava such an appallingly unfair system.
@jayarava @ReadingFaithfully_org exactly that!
@jayarava 😔 their loss.
@jayarava @ReadingFaithfully_org I really enjoyed the Pali sessions offered at Cambridge Buddhist Centre a few years back. I love learning languages anyway but having the opportunity to better understand the true meaning of the precepts, for example, really helped me strengthen that understanding (& ultimately my practice).
