@MarcAbrahams I've been trying to chisel at this for about 15 years. From the preface of the next edition of Psychology (messy proof marked included as additional decorative bonus!)

Today's Textbook Of The Day.
@XanIndigo I usually assume it's prison.
@CameronBrick It's a bit odd to be approached for an endorsement unless you'd already been positive about it. I've often had a pre-publication review requests and asked if a quote from the review could be used but that's a bit different.
The equivalent of @PsyArXivBot on Twitter is no longer working due to new API regulations. It was one of the first bots I created when moving to Mastodon, as it is the most important way I stay up to date with new papers.
Here on Mastodon, there are also many other ArXiV bots (I also maintain @SocArXivBot @MetaArXivBot and @EdArXivBot )
@DavidMellor FAR too discrete ;) (But it involved anonymising submitted-author's publications with XXXXs so you could not verify whether the citation supported what was being claimed because you didn't know what the paper was)
@DavidMellor Funnily enough, I did this for the first time last year and in response to a very peculiar editorial practice
I can't think of a time that I have ever used the "confidential remarks to editors" field in journal reviews until recently. I now use that section to comment on their journal policies and tell them how to implement open science best practices AKA topfactor.org
"A Problem in Theory and More: Measuring the Moderating Role of Culture in Many Labs 2"
An in-depth look at cultural variation in the Many Labs 2 data, and what more needs to be done to more effectively evaluate cultural variation in psychological effects.
So, what are you waiting for? Get out your iPhone or Polaroids and snap away! Any questions, just ask me.
PS. Your image would appear in the print and electronic version of the book. Double the immortalisation.
Here's what you would have to do.
1. Take two photos of yourself holding the pen in exactly the same way
2. Make sure you recreate the parameters identically- no eyes, jewellery e.g. (you can have a beard and moustache. We're no pogonophobes here.
3. Send me your photos with a contact email address (email NeilOnComedy@outlook.dom)
4. I'll choose the best for the book (out in April/May)
5. You'll need to sign a permission form, just to say you're happy for your image to be used
6. IMMORTALISATION
You might known Strack et al's famous experiment examining the effect of facial feedback on emotional experience. As a bit of fun, but a serious bit of fun, I want to recreate the facial expressions in Strack's study in the next (7th) edition of Psychology. (image here)
Mastodontists! UNREFUSABLE OFFER KLAXON!! Would you like to be immortalised in the UK's leading/best-selling introductory psychology textbook? Do you want to kick-start a stellar career in modelling? YES, YES, you do. So I have an offer for you.
This analysis of documents outlining review, promotion and tenure procedures in 7 countries shows that #OpenScience practices are rarely listed.
https://doi.org/10.1162/qss_a_00224
Traditional indicators remain common, even indicators that have been proven questionable for decades (journal metrics).
In contrast, Open Access publishing or data sharing are not mentioned in any document. To make Open Science practices worthwile, they have to be rewarded more in these processes!
Shop's re-opened.
@keithfrankish It's happened all over the world. It's collapsed.
Ah
Judging from a search, there's an epidemic of tweet-blocking going on tonight. Its the very opposite of what 2 Unlimited promised.
Two tweets received, 10 minutes apart. This NEVER happens, even at 3 in the morning. Oh dear.
