Breaking: Be My Eyes is coming to Meta Ray-Ban glasses. You can initiate a volunteer call through the glasses and they are able to see via your glasses cameras.

Yes, we are completely free to critique Be My Eyes if their app is inaccessible or for any other reasons that warrant discussion on AppleVis. They will not interfere with or influence our team and their opinions. I hope this reassures everyone that AppleVis and its community can freely express any necessary criticisms towards Be My Eyes without fear of suppression.

Keep in mind that Be My Eyes, for nearly 10 years and without being a nonprofit, has had a great track record of providing products informed by blind people and serving blind people. they are, however, exploring a possible nonprofit structure which may help us better achieve our mission in future years.

@JeffBishop @davidnason @AppleVis @bemyeyes It is on the roadmap for Be My Eyes to research the possibility of establishing a non-profit infrastructure. They plan to explore and decide if this is the path they want to pursue. This topic was discussed briefly in today’s DoubleTap show.

Along with the great news today about AppleVis returning on September 9, I want to tell you that when AppleVis returns, we'll have a brand new podcast.
AppleVis Unleashed is changing its name to Apple Crunch.
It will return near the end of September and will feature Thomas Domville and myself John Gassman along with a brand new member of the team. You all know Marty Sobo as a frequenht Mastodon contributor! We're happy to welcome him to the new Apple Crunch podcast heard on the new AppleVis.

@HolgerFiallo One of the key requirements we established with Be My Eyes is the independence of AppleVis. The AppleVis Editorial Team will remain free from any influence and will continue to be critical of any company, including Be My Eyes. We will maintain our advocacy for the community, and if we or the community need to be critical of Be My Eyes, we are free to do so. Rest assured, this was a crucial condition of the acquisition. I hope this eases your concerns. I will also ask the Be My Eyes team to address this question directly so you can hear it from them as well in the upcoming podcast. 😊

@HolgerFiallo Yes, the AppleVis Extra podcast will be posted on AppleVis, as our team now has access to the site and can make updates. For now, the site remains in read-only mode for the community. However, starting on the 9th, you'll be able to post and enjoy AppleVis just as before. Hope that helps!
