I may be the most certified person you’ve ever met. Years of IT experience in network management and security. Recently retired from the military. Interested in using creative channels, like games, to teach cyber risk to risk owners.

Cat picture booster. Multi-craftual. Unashamed public knitter.

@Viss the number of times I’ve had to explain to my underwriters “modern web development is a giant pile of convoluted frameworks that makes it nearly impossible to actually build a good-quality websites because noone is left who knows what HTML is anymore” is too damn many

Now that the finished work has arrived with its new owner, I can reveal it here!

The same embroidery piece as in previous posts of this thread, now finished.

On a piece of off-white muslin cloth, it says "fuck ai" in the top half of the fabric, stitched in cursive with red yarn in chain stitch.
Below, a flower meadow with multi-colored flowers, some green leaves, some branches with tiny leaves, flower stems and grass. Washed-out greenery (done with textile markers) is visible in the background.

@JessTheUnstill im pretty sure the team that builds an internal tool is sick of me saying “neat! Now can I export that data? CSV is fine” or “hey can you automatically pass that data to this other tool when the user submits a ticket?”

(I have thus far managed to restrain myself from telling my users that they really don’t need to upload the pdf, as my eyes just glaze over when I see it)

@DaveMWilburn I am 90% certain this is phone local spam filtering, possibly with “training” from other iOS users, not being sent to my carrier.

I noticed recently that I’ve not been getting all OTP codes to my cell phone as I should.

I turned off the spam filters, and voila! Codes are flowing again!

Which given the only things I’ve been marking as spam are campaign fundraising messages, really makes me wonder what logic the spam filters have been using.

SIGH

Looking at old pictures of Minerva and my phone's demands that I identify people in my pictures created the perfect reaction image.

@double_virgule @jerry I suspect it would be hard to get cut fabric thin enough to work for this model and still be structurally sound.

But I’ve totally done other crafts (crochet, weaving, braiding) with cut strips of fabric!

@da_667 unsolicited medical advice incoming!

If you’ve been soending time out in the bright, it could be some snow blindness. It’s basically sunburn of the eyes.

Treatment is generally to avoid the bright (sunglasses), keep your eyes moisturized (get the good eye drops), and try to rest your eyes as much as possible (super fun as a computer booper, I know).

With the above it should start chilling out in a couple days (if it’s actually snow blindness). Else I’d recommend a trip to an eye doctor- they’d have better sense of possible medication side effects or other causes.

@jerry @double_virgule coil into placemats, rugs, etc.

I have both the extremely manual (it’s a spool with 4 nails in it. Seriously, that’s the whole tool) and semi-manual (hand-crank) versions of this.

@poum my floor loom actually has one built in!

But it’s 0.5cm. Which is borderline useless for most of my current weaving.

Looking to crowdsource some info for a new project I have in mind (probably cross-stitch, maybe quilt) - weighing in welcome!

It will be a word cloud above the phrase “Is Real Art” with some of the words being

FiberArt
FolkArt
StreetArt
ProtestArt
BadArt
Women’sArt

I’m looking for more overlooked art forms to fill out the cloud

(Near the bottom, it’ll say “AI isn’t art” but I want the focus to be art that is too often sneered at)

@inarticulatequilter
Performance art
Digital art
Word art

@poum love seeing other people’s “here’s how I attach a raddle that clearly wasn’t designed for this loom”

@da_667 @cR0w *EVERY* algorithm (even, perhaps especially, those created by machines) is simply bias at scale. And scale is the only things the machines can beat me at.
