To spell this out clearly, the reason RAM has quadrupled in price is that a huge quantity of RAM that hasn't been produced yet has been bought with money that doesn't exist to populate GPUs that also haven't been produced to go in datacenters that haven't been built powered by infrastructure that may never exist to meet a demand that doesn't exist at all to make profit margins that mathematically can't exist while economists talk about this thing they call the "rational markets hypothesis".
As there seems to have been recent confusion about this, just a quick "official" toot to then pin: we haven't and won't support "generative AI" related stuff in LibreWolf. If you see some features like that (like Perplexity search recently, or the link preview feature now) it is solely because it "slipped through". As soon as we become aware of something like this / it gets reported to us, we will remove/disable it ASAP.
Dass wir bald alle schlechtere Geräte bekommen (8 GB RAM für Laptops, 4 für Smartphones) , liegt daran, dass die ganzen Hersteller gerade nur HBM-Chips für KI herstellen. Und Samsung stellt keine SSDs mehr für Endnutzer her.
Es reicht ja nicht, dass das ganze Internet dank genAI unbenutzbar wird, die Hardware nun auch. Dank geht raus an OpenAI & Co. Dreckszeug.

I think that schools should take on this role.
You could have a server for a school with mastodon, but not connected to the rest of the fedi, you could network with similar schools. Just like at the school dance the teachers are around so there are limits to how it's used.
Teens could post about their soccer games, advertise their clubs, make jokes, practice using the medium wisely.
When teens post to social media they care about their friends at school seeing the post most. 4/
