Spaceship pilot, BattleMech driver, pusher of buttons.

Bearly sentient most of the time. Often grumpy.

So far on the spectrum, even Captain Scarlet wants me to calm the hell down.

@arstechnica Needs a 3 digit display.

Welp, it's 2025...

Time to play Ultima VII.

I'm kind of glad me and Tina don't work together.

We'd be a HR nightmare when we got bored.

@helresa Good luck with the car hunting.

Tempest Rising.

A nice little C&C-esque game, very well done and polished. The campaigns do feel rather rushed story wise though; you're elbows deep in the 'GDI vs NOD' stuff and with like 3 missions left in each campaign here comes the Scrin...

Might have been better to make that a DLC/expansion campaign and just pummel the human opposition in to the ground for the first games main campaign.

Beyond that, really good to see C&C back.

Interesting, my Win11 VM crashes on exit with a OneDrive error. Apparently it's deeply upset it can't get to some memory address or another...

Then again I noticed an inetpub folder on its C:\ so it's probably picked up that wonky update that was floating around.

Fusion still runs so I'm not giving a toss.

Beyond Fusion 360 the only other thing I've found that isn't happy running via WINE/Proton is... cheats.

Kind of weird and I'm sure there is a workaround and/or *NIX option but yeah... that's it.

Happily puttering along on Kubuntu (raw Debian 12 + Nvidia was being a total bitch).

God the AI slop is getting bad on YouTube. Forgotten 80's movies? #1 is Empire Strikes Back.

Lost TV shows of the 90's? #1 is Babylon 5 with Lexx in hot pursuit.

I wouldn't mind as much if this shit wasn't also boiling the oceans.

@heydon Neither. Arm whatever crash protection systems it has, slam the brakes on and aim for tree.

Whoever is inside the car is in a metal box with air bags & seatbelts. The machine is disposable... it's ALWAYS disposable when a human life is involved.

@nini Yeah. They're very special over there... v. v. special.

TIL that some Americans put their cats down before moving house (WTF?)

I also learned that American kids are trying to turn their school issued laptops in to IEDs.

If someone ever hands me their kids laptop remind me to check for pencil lead on the power & USB ports.

@hotkey "write nothing deploy nowhere" advice that ohh so many dev teams should have been given.

I'm not saying all the Gaza fund raisers I see on bsky are fake... it's just when you see the exact same pictures being used to describe two different (and apparently unrelated) people you get a bit suspicious.

@TinaStormcaller It's either this or a screen full of cats... take your pick or send some pics :P

@TinaStormcaller Yes please.... *runs away*

@cstross *shrug* TIL that Charlie is left handed.

It's also cleaner than my work area.

@WellsiteGeo @cstross Ironically one of the components involved in the failure was the BMS freaking out and continually flipping between the packs and because there was battery the generators never started.

Worry not the green "OK" 'diagnostic' light remained lit on it during the whole process. :)

Seems they haven't really evolved much despite more widespread deployment.

@cstross In the 00's there was a massive power outage at one of IBM's server farms. Long & short being 2 separate teams with the exact same, wrong, map.

I wonder how many other disaster mitigation plans don't factor in the world going "double or nothing..."

@cstross Blame the cat :)

Today I Learned... I am in fact a cis man called Robert... who lives in America and voted for Trump.

Man social media's fucking weird.
