@jaykuo I wish more people understood that inflation isn't just "prices go up for now" but that inflation means your dollars are worth less. Your savings become worth less, even as they appear to "grow." Your house might seem to be appreciating, but a lot of that is just the dollars shrinking, etc. Your house could lose real value even as its market price creeps up. It's a one-way trip, a ratchet-strap squeeze, there's no realistic path back to bigger dollars.

Middle-class and lower-class people get screwed out of their earnings and savings by inflation, but people who have wealth stored in *stuff*, in real estate, stocks, bonds, etc -- the plutocrats, the ownership class -- are relatively unaffected.

So of course, some of the things the MAGA crowd say and do are just intended to bait the media in ways the MAGAs can use to motivate and cultivate the cult.

Look here, there's nothing wrong with the attorney general's numbers. Why, I was very likely to die of fentanyl overdose at least 10 million times myself. But now, that will be impossible!

Whether Garcia has "MS13" tattooed on his hand or not (and he does not), he still has a right to due process, and he's not getting it.

Whether the many other men in that concentration camp are MS13 members or not (and many of them are not), they all still have a right to due process, and they're not getting it.

TFG is spreading lies about an issue that wouldn't even excuse his behavior, to move the point of contention away from rigidly defined principles like facts and laws, and toward more malleable affairs like the mood of mobs.
