NEW: Thousands of counter-protesters gathered on Jan. 17 in downtown Minneapolis outside the City Hall, quashing an Islamophobic rally before it was able to even begin.

Edward Jacob “Jake” Lang, the rally’s organizer, was chased multiple blocks from City Hall to the Hotel Indigo. Protesters and media chased him through the hotel lobby and out the back, where he was able to flag down a red Tesla driven by a Trans woman that allowed him to get in the back seat.

NYC Mayor Mamdani has reversed an order that defined anti-Zionism as antisemitism.

The reversal sparked "Jewish community backlash & Herzog criticism."

The original order was issued by Mamdani's predecessor, Eric Adams, adopting the much criticised International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance's (IHRA) definition of antisemitism, which conflates criticism of the Israeli government with hatred of Jews.
